I was born and raised in Largo. Never knew this place existed till last weekend. My fiancé and I made a day to drive here from Brandon and go shopping. We fell in love with this place! The fresh hand made sandwich was amazing. I had a hot Italian panini that was amazing, kind of wish I got another for the ride home. We bought a loaf bread and some fresh made raviolis. The bread was great with dinner. The raviolis were tasty. We also got some fresh spinach manicotti (think that's what it was). It was good but quite expensive, prolly skip that next time. We bought two packs of the French bread pizzas, they were gone by the next day. Next time buying many more that 2 packs. For 4$, they were the best deal! Better than those stouffers frozen ones hands down! My fiancé fell in love with the wine section. She bought several bottles and plans on getting many more next visit. Heat selection of cheeses, and the fresh meat looked amazing. A little rich for my blood, butane one day. I will definitely have to try the coffee bar next time we are down there. A couple patrons were telling me how good there coffee is. Cramped parking, get there early or you'll be fighting a mad house.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! I am addicted to their coffee. The food is so good I could eat it every day.

Amazing deli sandwiches, extensive selection of cheeses, wine, cute espresso bar. Sandwiches are huge, and $5.50....the amount of cheese on the #3 (mozz and tomato) is worth the price alone. Mazzaros' is amazing!

Great bang for the buck. I think their greatest flaw is their popularity. It's packed and for good reason but it's a bit of chaos your first time heading in. Luckily I had an experienced regular. The nice part is you can buy anything in their market and go outside and eat it. Their Friday fish sandwhich was average, the fish meh, the bread.. Nice! Their bakery was impressive.

I think I found heaven in the form of a spacious, multi building italian market extravaganza overflowing with delicious goodies in St. Pete. The seafood is fresh and plentiful, the olives were some of the best I've had, the authentic italian meats and cheeses are out of this world, the baked goods are made fresh daily, the selection of fresh pasta is endless and desserts are beyond tasty. After browsing around and picking out a few items to bring home, I also got a delicious made to order panini to try right on the spot and it was fabulous. They offer patio seating for those who want to eat lunch there after shopping as I did. It's always busy and a bit crowded in here, especially on weekends, but the staff does a good job of keeping the flow moving and making everyone happy. It's hard to walk out of here with a frown on your face after taking a tour through foodie heaven. I wish I lived closer so i could go more often, but I will most definitely stop by next time I pass by.

Their food is great, but the cashiers are horrible. Me and my fiancé have stopped in right as they were closing and the lady was standing in front of the door with her back turned and another cashier looked dead at us and looked away. Then my fiancé asked if they were closed and both the girls just snickered. Not to mention they aren't open late on Saturdays and don't even think about trying to get in there close to them closing then either. All in all I love their food, but the service is poorly lacking. The owners really need to look at who they hire because they are some of the rudest employees I've been around.

Chaotic? Yes! Worth it? Oh yes. I made the mistake of skipping breakfast to get here before the crowd although I don't think that's possible. Ended up in the bakery line and ate a delish strawberry cream cheese pastry that was above the display as well as ordering a cannoli cake. To my surprise it was a very light cake and tasted delicious. I'll try venturing back during the week and take my time to hopefully be able to look around.

Italian Disneyland. As the only big Italian market in town, Mazzaro's has this action cornered, and unfortunately, they act like it. Big crowds, big prices, long wait times and sluggish service. Being from New York where they abound, I have high standards for these specialty markets. Quality wise, Mazzaro's is mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the Herald Square sized crowds and Madison Avenue prices. Lack of competition is the only thing which accounts for their Beatlemania like popularity. On the plus side, their bakery is quite respectable, as well as their cheese shop. As to the butcher, deli, wines and grocery, far better choices abound in Saint Petersburg. As a New Yorker, I pine for the days of Balducci's on 6th Ave, or the quaint cheese shops of the East Village. While Mazzaro's smacks of something sentimental of these, I always find myself entering their amusement park as homesick, and leaving sicker still, only with buyer's remorse. $40 for a frozen lasagna? If you're lucky, it won't fully thaw on the seat beside you while you're waiting to turn onto 22nd Street. It's truly the Magic Kingdom of Italian markets. Abracadabra! Your money just disappeared.

One of my fav place in St. Pete. This place doesn't need anymore reviews or business, but I love it so I had to leave 5 stars!

This place is paradise. I even like it better than Locale Market downtown. It feels much more intimate and authentic somehow, and the prices are so much better. The wine and cheese room is like an amusement park in itself, offering an incredible selection of wine, cheese, pâté, and honey for every taste and price range. The coffee bar, gelato, and bakery are to die for, but my favorite part of this place is the fresh pasta station (try the lobster ravioli) and the deli, where they offer the most incredible selection of prepared foods. This is by far my favorite place to eat and shop in St. Pete.

Had the shrimp and corn chowder and the cold cut panini today. Food is always fresh and perfect! Brought some lamb sliders home to cook for dinner! Love this place!!

I can not say enough things about Mazzaro's. it's honestly a place I go and find complete happiness. I remember when Mazzaro's was a quarter of the size it is now and I love the expansion. Some must do's when visiting Mazzaro's is: Pastry/bakery section (get a loaf if Italian bread and their homemade biscottis) Pasta bar (pick up some fresh marinara sauce and fresh pappardelle pasta) Enjoy a cup of espresso at the coffee bar Take home a fresh cut of cheese and a bottle of wine from their cheese cellar Take some meatballs home to go Pick out some fresh olives from their olive bar located in the produce section I absolutely love Mazzaro's and I'm pretty sure you will too

This is one badass Italian Market and I love coming here when I am in the St Pete area. Their sandwiches are classic and well done and they also put their own little spin on some of them. Their baked goods section is really well done with homemade canolis, gelato, various types of bread, etc. The pasta section is awesome with housemade sauces such as lobster cream sauce. They also have fresh pasta ready for you to take home, linguine, ravioli and more. It's nice to get some food and take it outside to their patio so you can enjoy the weather and it's a covered area so you don't melt. Bonus, on Saturdays they have a bunch of free wine tastings in their wine and cheese room.

1 star shy due to locale. :( I'm a Sicilian girl and it is very difficult to find proper crusty Italian bread, never mind some good, real, properly cured Proscuitto! I love, Love, LOVE Mazzaro's for ALL they have! So much, I even got the t-shirt ;) lol BTW NO WAY to include the "perfect" photo for this gourmet favorite... Fresh sandwiches, luncheon meats, deli, olive bar, wine/cheese room...ETC!

I first was introduced to Mazzaro's last week at an Elite Yelp event. But, I thought my review would be most accurate if I revisited on a normal day first. We got here around 11am on Saturday and it was already packed! Per the other reviews, it seems to always be busy....so plan to navigate around people and not get stressed out....there's a lot going on. Mazzaro's has the feel of an authentic Italian market. A small produce section, a good selection of fresh meats, a deli counter where you can order sandwiches (meatball sandwich-SO GOOD), a cheese area, a wine cellar, a coffee bar, and a vast array of desserts. You can get pre-made Italian dishes (just pop in the oven), fresh made pasta, frozen pasta, a variety of fresh sauces made at Mazzaro's, and cold cuts to your heart's desire. My favorite part were the old italian women in the store. I heard one of them talk about mutz-a-del (proper pronunciation of mozzeralla)...and heard another yell at the deli guy about how she hates mushrooms. Felt like my house on Sunday. Minus one star for the flow of the whole place. It's very easy to get confused and overwhelmed. Hint: You pay for coffee at the coffee bar, you pay for anything you're gonna eat there outside on the patio, and all other grocery items you pay for at the front. I can't wait to bring my Italian parents here next time they visit!

Mazzaro must be an Italian word for we have everything, because they do! This small market has a section each for meats, craft beers, deli, sausages, pizzas, fresh pastas, coffee bar, olive bar, produce, grocery products, desserts, a large area with all types of cheeses and an entire room filled with wine bottles. Aside from serving up tasty food, Mazzaro's also offers wine tasting events and wine consultations. Every time my bf and I go to Mazzaro's, which recently has been averaging once a week, we like to sit at the coffee bar and order ourselves each a double espresso con panna and almost always the Sesame Tuna Wasabi sandwich and the Grilled Portobello. We've tried a few other sandwiches but always find ourselves craving for these 2. Here's how to proceed at Mazzaro's if you want to eat there: Check out all different things Mazzaro's has to offer, then head to the deli and grab a number, look over the menu while waiting for your # to be called, place your order, find a seat at the coffee counter or patio, check back with the deli occasionally to see if your order is ready. Anything you eat at the counter needs to be paid at the counter. Just try it once. I promise you will be a regular at Mazzaro's. Hours: 9am-6pm Monday-Friday 9am-2:30pm Saturday Closed Sunday

Everything you want to eat and drink is here. The wine section is extensive. A trip to the cheese room is heavenly. The prepared foods are delicious. The marinara sauce is to die for. They have hoagies and paninis made to order. Visit the coffee bar for some serious brews. The gelato looks and tastes very close to the real deal in Italy. They have a covered outside seating area that is cozy yet spacious. You can even go grocery shopping here. What is not to like about this place? If you like Italian food you owe it to yourself to check this place out.

Holy overwhelming of the senses, Batman. There is soooo much to take in at Mazzaro's. This place has it all, vespas atop the shelves, cool decor, about a million other people meandering around the store and about every Italian food you could imagine. Gelato, check. Sausage, check. Cheese, check, check, check. Spices, check. Homemade pizzas and other goodies, check. coffee bar, check. Enormous wine selection, check - duh! They even have a home ware's section in an adjacent building. I ventured for lunch during the week. They. Were. Packed. Prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. I had a portabello panini and it was divine. There was a spread that I couldn't identify that simply made the sandwich. They also have a wide selection of drinks. I had a cucumber soda. It was unique enough to catch my eye and it was definitely a good choice. Quite refreshing...I'd definitely have it again. There's a covered patio that offers plenty of space for you to sit and enjoy you meal. It was just announced that Mazzaros is opening a wine and tapas bar along Beach Dr. That might be trouble for me!!

Well, it took us all of 2 days before we were drawn back to Mazzaro's Italian Market. The June Elite event that was held on a Thursday was just a tease to make us drive down to St Petersburg on the following Saturday morning. Of course it was worth it. We were tipped off from one of the employees during the Elite event, if you go on a Saturday come early, like 9:00 - 10:00 am early. So we did. As expected the bakery and the bar were hopping. No sooner than I pulled my ticket out of the dispenser at the bakery it was called. At the event we had purchased a few items, one of which was biscotti's. So on this day we knew what we wanted, MORE BISCOTTI'S PLEASE! We chose the anise and almond biscuit's. Also some Italian bread and a very tasty tart with almonds. BTW, all were delicious and fresh. After roaming the isles in that area, we next went to the deli counter. Just unbelievable choices here. Ready made dishes such as lasagna, meatballs, sausages of every variety, too many choices to name here. We did purchase a mozzarella and tomato salad, again spot on. Next stop, the cheese room. I confess, I haven't met a cheese that I don't love. So in this room I was in cheese heaven. We chose a imported Fulvi Romano that we will grate at home for our pasta meals and our salads. In a refrigerated case there was a sample bowl of a cheese that I couldn't stop tasting. It was called Graskaas, a limited edition Beemster brand premium dutch cheese, smooth and creamy made from the milk of the first spring grass. I'm salivating as I write this. Of course we bought some of this also. Now to the meat case, next to the check out. Great variety of beef, chicken, pork, you name it. We picked out two bacon wrapped Angus fillets. At this point I must review myself, for the perfect char-grilling of these two tender, mouth watering steaks . Why yes......I think I'll just give myself and Mazzaro's 5 stars!!!!

Not too much I can add that's anything different that fellow yelpers have not said already but Holy Shnikes, this place is elbow to elbow people. If and that's a big If you can find a parking place you will enter sensory overload world. You could easily spend the day here, going thru all the shops, rooms, alcoves, cubby holes....so much. We bought a baquet just because and devoured it in the car immediately, very tasty and fresh, baked on the premises. This is a place you experience, not just visit. All staff I dealt with was polite courteous and helpful. I took one star off those of us who may be claustrophobic.

love Mazzarro's the cheese what a selection! and the fresh pasta, I can't get anything like this since I left NYC. Love the prepared foods section, which is reasonably priced and I don't have to cook! Fried Calamari was great and a whole pound for $7.99. Great bread and pastries too - One of the few places I can get good bread since I moved to Florida. Meats are fresh and there's a selection I can't get anywhere else for example lamb sliders.. Cons are the crowds - it's always like a zoo, and the hours - I am from northern Pinellas and work so I wish they were open at least one evening past 6 pm and later on Saturday or for a few hours on Sunday. (although that saves me lots of money because I can't get there often). Please Mazzaro's - a few more open hours for us working people~

The market is somewhat of a legend among locals and visitors. Very difficult to shop on the weekends because of the crowds but everyone has to experience it at least once. Bring lots of money because you'll want everything you see and I've been rarely disappointed. A tip: choose the bakery pizza instead of the deli pizza, much better.

Unbelievable fresh meat and seafood counter, olive bar and deli and impressive coffee bar, winery, cheeses and bakery. Opens early in the morning grab your coffee and then stay all day and shop and eat out back or bring your food to the beach make sure you have a cooler with lots of ice so you can shop and travel home with it!

This is in my top ten favorite places in Tampa Bay and one of the places that helped me fall in love with Florida. An Italian girl's dream, Mazzaro's showcases everything from wine, cheese and pasta to decadent specialty groceries and hard to find ingredients. My idea of a perfect Saturday is arriving at Mazzaro's around 10 am, grabbing coffee and a biscotti, relaxing in their coffee bar, then shopping for dinner before grabbing a deli sandwich to enjoy on their terrace. Trust me, this place will rock your world!

What a wonderful experience taking a step back in time to when there were markets like this on every other corner in my home town of NY. If you want Italian authentic bakery, pasta, and kitchen staples, this place is awesome. Be wary of what you order in the deli. During lunchtime it is chaos and the quality control is compromised. We had a sausage, peppers and onion hero that was dry and the sausage was overcooked. The Italian turkey is fresh and excellent quality, but the sandwich lacked any Italian flavor. Bread was chewy and tough.

Oh Mazzaro's, or as I like to call it, a little slice of heaven. The only problem with this place is that the hours aren't longer. This is one of my all time favorite places to visit. There's something for everyone here. It's also the perfect place to go to either enjoy a meal or shop when you're planning on preparing one (or several). They have a coffee bar and the barista will make it how you like it. The deli has not only to go items, but makes fresh salads, paninis, sandwiches, etc. The bakery... I can barely form words. The desserts are out of this world. And the gelato? Superb. They also have a wine and cheese room with a great selection and variety. They are starting to offer more craft beer which is always a plus in my book. For those who love olives, an olive bar. There is also fresh meat and seafood along with prepared meals (pizzas, pastas, salads, etc.) for you to take and have ready quickly at home. Whether you're visiting the area, shopping, or looking to grab a bite to eat, you can't go wrong with Mazzaro's!

While on vacation in Saint Petersburg, the hubby and I had a craving for Italian food. We thought we'd give this place a try. We walked in and discovered they didn't really have what we were looking for. We were hoping that in addition to being a market and deli, they would have cooked pasta as well. We were out of luck, as all they had was precooked foods that they would package for you or hot and cold sandwiches. So we decided to go someplace else to get some pasta, and then we would come back here for dessert. We thought the desserts in the dessert case looked good enough to come back and try. Well, after having a terrific meal at Anthony's Pizzeria around the corner, we came back for dessert. I must say we weren't impressed with the dessert. We had an almond tart, lemon drop, and star cookies. None of the desserts were good. They were all dry, dry, dry! Yuck! Needless to say, we won't come here again for the remainder of our Stay.

Never been to Italy, but I sure felt the love in this place. So much to look at & try that I could easily spend an hour and a half shopping & enjoying the coffee bar. Attentive staff ready to give educated recommendations. I personally fell in love with the place at the cheese counter. I got to sample some amazing artisan cheese & got info on what fruit & wine to pair it with. I was also given some recipe cards to take home (without asking), which makes you recognize their attention to detail. Closes early around 6pm, so plan accordingly.

This market is awesome. I am going to be sad when I move because I can't take this market with me. It is so big and always jamming with people. They have everything you could want for Italian food. The housemaid pastas are amazing and they have lots of sauces too. Be prepared to wait in line as there always 1 million people shoulder to shoulder in this place. I have a great bakery and I got my husband a birthday cake really nice quality and good size and beautiful for a good price. they have a good beer and wine selection. I was somewhat an Italian food fan before coming to this market, and now this market has ignited a huge Italian fan in me. I didn't know Italian food could be so yummy!

  • Alissa W.

Not sure why but I think this is the best place to get lunch in St Pete. Is it b/c the sandwiches are so delicious or the atmosphere? It can be because the variety offered or free refills of iced tea on the patio. Or it can be the amazing dessert counter that can't be passed up without gazing at the goodness in the case that day. A wine room to wander and a different cheese to be tasted every visit. All of those things bring a giddy feeling and smile to my face when I walk through those tall wooden doors. There are so many good things about this place but as always I have to mention the cons... First and foremost be prepared to make it a field trip, especially on the weekends. The time spent there is worth the food but have a lot of time to throw out the window when you go. Also go on an empty bladder b/c I have found only one bathroom there to use and thats not enough for the crowds on the weekend. Third- the parking takes some patience at times but the attendants out there are always helpful. Even if you go there only just once its a great feeling to enjoy some good food under the shade of the trees surrounded by others with the same great taste. So go and enjoy yourselves :)

One of the best little gems of St Pete. Authentic Italian market with a huge variety of baked goods (the bakery is amazing), coffee and espresso bar, and a deli and wine room. The "always busy" atmosphere immediately let's you know you're in a special place. The hot Italian sub is my go to at the deli and the cannolis, mini apple pies, and fresh breads are personal favorites at the bakery. If you haven't tried Mazzaro's it's certainly one to check out. Love this place!

I love it!! sweet and bakery!!! Pasta... all the italian food dishes I love. Even a coffee section bar! a bit of waiting cooking the burger compared to other dishes =/ but so worth the taste when bring my guests here.

Great during the weekends, just make sure to get here early because it gets packed, you'll be lucky to find a decent parking spot. So why come to Mazzaro's? Well... Do you love anything Italian? Cheese, Wine, Meats, Olive Oil, Cannolis, Breads, Pasta, Coffee. Should I go on?? this is the place. Great location down in the Pete, I love the Chivata bread, the absolute best, very fresh, you buy it and eat it the same day or it will go bad. The Deli has excellent sandwiches which you can enjoy with your coffee in the back patio. Hard to get into specifics or find anything negative to say about Mazzaro's, enjoy coming here and trying different things. If there's a downfall is that it gets overwhelmingly crowded to the point where you can't find a seat or parking for that matter.

The best place to go in St Pete - whether you're picking up dinner to cook at home or a quick sandwich or coffee, Mazzaros is the place to go! Be careful when going on a Saturday, it's always super busy, but worth it!

Mazarros is located in a rather strange location in a back neighborhood somewhere, but it just goes to show if your place is good, people will find u out no matter where u are. Once u turn on 22nd u cannot miss this place, it sticks out like a sore thumb. If u never been there, u will know exactly what I'm talking about when u see it. The reason I love Mazarros is not really for the shopping . Yes, they have great things, but most of those things u can find anywhere, and cheaper. The reasons I love Mazarros is for the Deli section, Espresso Bar, and Bakery.. U can get a huge quality sub for $5, and they are delicious . My Favorite so far is the meatball. It is extremely messy so make sure u grab 10 napkins! They also have a huge fridge in the front and a small one towards the back patio door filled with all kinds of sodas, juice, beers, etc to grab something to drink before u enter the patio to eat. I'm usually grabbing a beer. A nice La chouffe is usually my top choice if they have it at the time, but if they don't, it's not a problem because they have a vast selection of all kinds of beers to choose from. Just make sure u grab a number at the deli to order. It's really chaotic and fast paced in there most of the time, so when they call your number, be ready . The bakery is filled with the best Italian desserts and gelato. everything I've had has been good. If I could get a seat at the coffee bar, that would be nice. It is usually filled with a bunch old Italian men sipping on their espresso drinks and socializing. I don't blame them. That's where i'd be hanging out all day too if I could or lived down the road :-)if anyone can inform me of a slower time to catch a seat , that would be nice. It's always so packed with people surrounding it waiting for people to get up. Aint nobody got time for that! I always have to yell my coffee order out to go and take it outside with a nice bakery goodie. I've tried their to go pizzas and wasn't crazy about them, but others seem to like them because they fly off the shelf as soon as they put them out. I still need to try their fresh made pastas and to go meals. Haven't gotten there yet, but I will. If I lived closer I would have already conquered that place.

Authentic Italian market that made me feel like I was back in the north east. They have everything! Pre made meals, semi pre made meals, sandwiches, fresh cut meat, an entire room of cheese and wine, their own coffee and coffee bar, desserts, and every type of special olive oil, honey, olive, chocolate... the list goes on and on! My only issue is it is packed and people are a little cut throat to get what they want before it's sold out (which everything was well stocked... it's just the vibe.) It kind of felt like going to the grocery store the day before a big snow storm or hurricane. BUT I hear they are expanding so maybe the aisles will get a little bigger. Either way the rush adds to the charm of the place and the check out counters are fast. The staff definitely knows how to handle the large amount of people properly.

AMAZING sandwiches!! I had the wasabi tuna with ginger and it was a perfect compliment in flavor. My lunch date has a simpler palate and preferred Mozzaro's take on a classic Italian. Both were amazing!! The tuna was perfectly seared leaving a cool soft center (sashimi style), while the Italian classic tasted fresher than any sub I can remember in recent memory. The lunch was topped of with a canolli for each of us - crushed pistachio for me and chocolate chip for her. While I can't speak for her, mine was a perfect blend of salty / sweet and rounded out with utter freshness!!

I love the various things Mazzarros carries that you can't find anywhere else (see Bueno Bars). They also have a great section of pastas, sauces and fresh baked breads! Their wine room is also very expansive and they keep their prices fair and reasonable. All their employees are super knowledgable in the departments they work in as well. All in all its a great staple for St. Pete....my only issue is the odd hours they keep.

This place rocks! I lose track of time in any of their sections: Produce, Meats, Wine and Cheese rooms, Beer fridge, Sandwiches and Deli, Handmade Pasta, Charcuterie, Bakery, Gelato and Coffee station. Make sure you pick a number when you get to the Deli, Pasta or Bakery section, because that's how you order. They have a lot of employees to attend the large crowds. Everything looks great, but I'm having a hard time trying other sandwiches because I'm in a relationship with their Sesame Tuna Wasabi. I cheated a couple of weeks ago with a muffaletta and it was worth it. The prices are low and the quality is great! I also tried their Focaccias, and I am a declared polygamist in this section because I always get whatever they have available (never disappointed). You can choose a bottle of wine or beer and drink in their patio. Today I had a Belgium beer ($2.50) with some cheese and olives (Olive bar $7.99/lb) This has become a place where I take visitors from other cities and everyone seems to enjoy it. They close early on Saturdays (2:30pm), closed on Sundays, and close at 6 pm from Mon to Fri.

Best bread in town! In addition to the staples, Mazarro's sells different specialty loaves each day of the week. Saturday is Sour Dough, which is my favorite! Throughout the week, they also sell jalapeno, rosemary and sun dried tomato, to name a few. I also buy all my meat here. It's not too expensive and is fresher and better cut than meat at a standard grocery. They do their own dry aging and will accommodate specialty orders, such as course ground beef for chili. The wine and cheese room smells awful but it's a must see! They have a huge variety of cheese on offer and a very nice selection of wines. I love shopping here, however, it's become a very popular spot with tourists which can make for long lines on the weekend. It's usually best to avoid peak times such as breakfast and lunch.

There are very few places here in Florida that make me feel at home. As a displaced New Yorker, Mazzaro's is one of them! From the super friendly staff, cute decor, hard to find grocery items, fresh local produce and incredible food- this place is a one stop dream market. I find myself there at least once a week. If you've got a sweet tooth, (which I undoubtedly do!) Mazzaro's got your back! Their dessert counter is unparalleled. Cookies, canoli, gelato, pies, cakes. Beautifully crafted and inventive. Do yourself a favor. Go experience the magic that is Mazzaro's. You won't regret it!

I do not know what the fuss about this place. Okay, it is big. They have variety of food, mostly International foods. The deli is packed but they sell Boar's Head products like Publix :) I had the Sesame Tuna sandwich which was OK. I also tried Hot Italian sandwich and it was also OK. Their bread is pretty good. Good beer and wine selection. Again, this place sells no different stuff than Publix. Just little better decoration, that's all.

I absolutely loved this place! It had everything that I hoped for and more. An amazing butcher counter, knowledgeable cellar person, cheeses I have never heard of and a olive oill/basalmic vinegar selection that went on for days. Add to it their gelato, coffee bar and fresh made pasta and I am set for life. I will be back again and again. Maybe they could consider opening one in Clearwater so I don't have to drive 45 minutes to get my fix?

Heaven!! If you come on the weekends the earlier the better because it gets packed fast! If your looking for any Italian specialty this is the place to come!! I don't even know where to begin there are so many great things about this place. From the meat counter, to the wine and cheese room, the bread and dessert counter, coffee bar and the deli meat and sandwich bar. Everything there is so good. They even have home made pasta! I tried the coffee for the first time today and ordered a double con panna and OMG I was on a caffeine high! The mufaletta sandwich at the deli counter is divine and I'd advise you to order it. My fiancé ordered the hot italian and said it was good but said the regular italian was better. They sadly did not have any fresh french bread pizza this time. In the wine room they are always offering samples of wine for you to taste as well as cheese and duck pate. Some staple things that we always get: fresh made french bread pizza, WINE, cannoli's,and a loaf of tuscan bread! I wish it was closer to my house because id go every day!

This place has a lot of hype - but in my opinion it is overrated. The market/deli was extremely crowded and Mazzaro's is pretty small and narrow. In areas to maneuver through it became a maze to stay clear of the crowds (I have learned that it is not a place to bring small kids). The sandwiches we ate there were sesame tuna (pretty good but soggy), bronze fish (tasty but soggy and over sauced) and meatball sub (horrible mess and meatballs were too dense). The market part has some unique offerings, but I can find most in speciality shops that are less crowded or online. I also brought home cookies from the bakery which were pretty good but we were not blown away.

Outstanding food and friendly staff. I get the generously sized hot Italian from the deli for $5.50, and love eat while watching the staff bake all sorts of amazing treats, also enjoying a delicious and frothy cappuccino. It's a favorite destination for me and my brothers. It takes a few visits to get the whole experience, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who has the time to visit.

Went today for our bi-annual pilgrimage to Mazzaro's and it happened again. Don't get me wrong, this place has great food and it's a pretty cool place but food service is sloooooooow. Today my order number was 04 and by time we got our 2 cheese steaks the order number was 55. I told my wife 5 more minutes and were just going down the road to WAWA were they understand efficiency. This place is like and Italian market meets a roller derby, you better have your elbow pads on because it brings out the worst in people.

Ordering is chaotic, especially when they're busy which seems like always! I had the lobster rolls and they were fantastic. They also give free sandwiches to Coast Guardsmen in uniform, what a nice gesture! Great food and great prices! Enjoy!

You seriously need to reevaluate your life if you haven't been here yet. This place is just overwhelming with little pieces of heaven everywhere. I just stopped in for an Italian sub for my friend and it was really impressive. I'll be back for some vino fino.

I thought that visiting my son in St Pete was just that, but now I drive all the way there mainly to eat here at Mazzaro's now. And if I see my son, well, that's nice too. :) Started coming here a year ago. Food is AWESOME!!!! Love the wine and cheese selection. Prices are great, and you'll be stuffed and oh so happy when you leave, with a big smile. Love this place!!!!!!

They've got a fantastic selection of cheeses, wine, seasonings, pre-made food, and pretty much anything else you could want that's delicious. If you have to cut out of work early to go on a weekday, do it. This is one of the best places in St. Pete, but if you go on a Saturday it's really hard to park or move around once you get inside because everyone else knows how awesome it is too. But if you go on a weekday it's much more chill and you can take your time to check out all the great things they have.

An absolutely different level of Italian market compared to the rest in the area! I had heard great things about this place while looking for a replacement market to the one I went to in Chicago. This one has everything I could ask for! And what a great wine & cheese room- consider us regulars! and what great prices!

Italian heaven. The Italian Disney world. It is THE place to go. Ever since I moved to tampa bay, I had been searching for an Italian bakery. I was always disappointed. I begrudgingly tried this place and was blown away. But the pastries aren't even what brings me back. Get the homemade spinach ricotta ravioli Order a cappuccino and eat your pastry at the coffee bar Go to the cheese room and speak to the artisans about pairings while they give you sample after sample. Go to the meat section and ask for a half pound of the best prosciutto they have. Go to the pre-made food section and have some eggplant lasagna or a fresh sandwich. Get some groceries there too. This is where we buy are Italian flour to make pizza. Arturo cero cero. Try all the pastries and gelato. I get a bag of the biscotti and I like the wet desserts. The dry cookies are the only things that need work. This place is amazing and may just be the best place on earth. My Sicilian father goes there for hours to take it all in. We make the special trip out from tampa for this place. I have frozen loaves of their bread in my freezer as I buy in bulk. Love love love!!! Note that the hours are very short. Closed Sundays and closed early on Saturdays. Around the holidays, it is packed! Shop early as you may get annoyed with the crowds. Tons of parking available with parking attendants. The building is huge with many sections and exterior painted murals.

Up to now I've refrained from writing a review on this business because it is almost universally agreed that it is the best Italian market/deli in the area. But I've read an absolute one star joke of a review so I'll respond. When you walk in the door you see a meat case with some very high quality cuts. Impressive. They also have a meatball mix which is priced at $6 a lb. Makes great meatballs for lazy chefs like me. A small but good produce section adjoins it. As you walk towards the back there is a wine and cheese room to the right. While they have fine, low cost wines it's a paradise for the w/c aficionado. The deli is to the left and the case has everything from stuffed cherry peppers to cooked lasagna squares. Tenderloin, chicken parm cutlets, pasta salads, pork shanks, it is amazing. The sandwiches are very good and priced at $5 and $6. Fresh pasta is around the corner and it is to die for. I get the raviolis. They melt in your mouth. The dessert section and coffee bar are to the right. I love their tiramusu. For $5 you get a big square that will easily satisfy 3. You can't beat that for the price. They also have prepared salads and soups. They have everything. Some people say it's pricey but I don't think so at all. The sandwiches are the biggest bargain. High quality at a fair price. If you're like me and grew up in an Italian neighborhood up north this place is like a bit of home. Update: I went there this morning just before 10 and it was packed. My first stop was the deli where I got 2 breaded chicken cutlets, 3 hot stuffed cherry peppers, mashed sweet potatoes with gorgonzola (wow, I can't wait to try that!!), Spinach salad w/egg and a small container of awesome BuffaloBeerCheddar Dip. Then over to the fresh pasta area where I got 1/2 lb of meat and 1/2 lb of cheese ravioli and a carton of prosciutto chips that are to die for. Last stop was the dessert and bakery station. A small tiramusu (it weighs a full pound) and a focaccia loaf. Done. What do you think all this food cost me? $41.78 plus tax. I was in the front door and checked out in just under a half hour. Case closed.

It is a true Italian market. They have a wide selection of fresh groceries: meats, pasta (yes, fresh pasta), breads, and cheeses. They also have a very large selection of frozen pasta and pre made pasta dishes to take home for a quick dinner. They have a sandwich counter that also has fresh made dishes (lasagna, chicken/eggplant parmigiana, ravioli, manicotti, etc). There's a coffee/espresso bar, bakery, wine cellar and cheese room as well. I haven't had anything there that I haven't LOVED! I like to take advantage of the panini of the day when I can make it in. The time if recommend to go is during the fall. They have pumpkin ravioli and gnocchi, pumpkin cheesecake drink, and a thanksgiving inspired panini.

Fantastic place. Packed on Saturdays so if you want to avoid a huge crowd go during the week. It is a little on the pricey side but that is to be expected for the quality.

Top 10 reasons I love this gourmet Italian market: 1. The sandwiches from the deli counter. Hot Italian and Mozzarella/Tomato are my favorites. Their sub rolls are to-die-for. 2. Coffee counter in the middle serving delicious lattes and espresso. 3. Fresh handmade pasta. 4. Fresh homemade breads, pastry & desserts. 5. Fabulous cheese room with samples. 6. Wine shop with tastings every time I've been there. 7. Ready-to-go cold salads, soups, sandwiches, fish dip, etc. 8. Open air, covered, large patio to enjoy your food, if you so desire. 9. Olive bar. 10. Fun, eclectic, and different brands of jams, jellies, sauces, ethnic food, etc. FACT: My cat Jack said that the accidentally-left-out-Napoleon pastry was DELICIOUS. Tip 1: Get there early! Since they are not open Sundays, they are PACKED on Saturdays. Tip 2: They just opened a separate building (across their parking lot) as a gift shop, selling housewares, kitchen implements, soap, coffee pots, candles, etc. Great place to pick up some holiday gifts as the prices are very reasonable.

Mazzaro's is like Disney world minus the pink eye and plus way more deliciousness. No, but seriously, go here. Get a sandwich, get some birch beer or rose lemonade, get a slice of cannoli cake. Thank me later.

Besides it being crowded...the food is amazing. Decorated and arranged like a really old school super market... this place has all the Italian imports! I love the sweets! Their bakery is legit, with fresh bread and pastries... i recommend the Canolis! However, you can't go wrong with any dessert. I like the Smores Tart as well. The sandwiches are very delicious and very affordable. I recommend the hot italian sandwich! I see why this place is very popular, i'm a fan. However, I recommend not going during peak hours (i.e. noon - 1p) because it is too crowded. and the parking isn't that great either and if you want to eat in the patio area, you kinda have to fight for a table. Also, they don't provide any bags in the patio cashier area. Also, the imports are a bit pricey ( mean a piece of chocolate is like $3. Nonetheless, definitely worth going to.

Seriously, I LOVE this place! A great spot to grab lunch (but lunch time can get packed!). Want coffee? Check. Fresh breads and desserts...and gelato. The fresh pasta is amazing. The pear and cheese purses are a favorite or seasonally, the pumpkin ravioli. Both are amazing when combined with the fig sage sauce. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Ready made pasta dishes are great. Especially like the chicken and broccoli pasta and the cheese lasagna. There's a great wine section with a huge selection at all price points. I personally love an Aglianico which can be harder to find but they've got several. There's a fresh cheese section with samples. And the meats are amazing. The filet wrapped in bacon is one of the best anywhere and reasonably priced. Nothing I don't absolutely love about Mazzaro's. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it. It's a foodie's heaven. If you haven't tried it, you don't know what you're missing! What are you waiting for??

To say I loved this place would be an understatement. I wasn't sure what to expect, we wanted a fun lunch in St Pete before going to the Dali. The stars aligned and we found a parking spot right by the door. Walked in and I immediately was excited for what was to come. Beautiful veggie section, meats, sauces, spices... Oh my! Then we made our way to the back. We decided to split a bunch of things. No lie, everything we tried was amazing!! Sandwiches, pasta salad, coffees and of course a dessert. Just order what looks good, no need to stick to certain dishes. I will be back!

I always make an attempt to stop by Mazzaro's when I'm visiting family in Florida for their great food and awesome atmosphere. Usually we go the day before my flight so I can grab one of their huge sandwiches to take with me on the plane. Everything I've tasted or smelled here has been delicious and you can definitely determine that from the moment you walk in. Be sure to grab a fresh Italian pastry while you're here as well, they're amazing. They also have a pretty solid beer section near the front if you're looking to grab something to drink. Not much else to say, totally recommend this place.

Freaking amazing! I was grumbling a bit about driving out of the "classy" part of St. Pete to the boonies, but did not have my hopes up when I saw that the market was in a drab looking building next to a gaudy Mazzaro furniture store. But once you step in, it's a different world! All the Italian foods you can think of, and tons more you can't. Rows and rows of cheeses, sauces, dried pasta, etc. Can't vouch for the quality of the meats since I did not try them from either place, but I had just come from Local Market, and the prices area heaven versus earth :D Yes, yes, at LM they are aged 60 days, the rent is high, blah blah blah.... They have quite a lot of cheap and cheery wines too. Will be back soon in the morning when it's quieter.. looks like a nice place to sit down for a good coffee when it's less crowded...

    (5)
  • Michele B.

What a find! Everything Italian you could want. You can find the freshest breads, meats and cheeses around. They have a great selection of wines as well. You can either shop for your meals or take them there, but a word to the wise if you want to sit and enjoy t your latte and pastry, or you freshly made sandwich with Proscuitto on fresh crusty bread, here on the weekend, you best arrive early they do pack them in.

Mazzaro's is a mecca of culinary delights for foodies. Like "wow". Specialty areas include wine room, cheesemonger nook, Italian deli, fresh exquisite bakery, robust coffee bar, and friendly butcher's counter. They specialize in the unique as well as the traditional. Pear with cheese pasta pillows, fig with sage sauce, fresh mozzarella prepared daily, delectable cannoli with pistachios, lavender flower caramel sauce, electric beetroot confiture jam, and so much more. These were simply the discoveries on visit number one. Bravo! I'll be back for more.

Yes, it's crowded but for good reason. They are amazing! But, it's not a problem because everyone is so friendly and they really move people through quickly. I love the canolli and fresh pasta.

  • Rachel M.

Oh my gosh. Going to Mazzaro's should be on the must do list of visiting the Saint Pete area. How darling with all of the fun cute statues and murals of italy all over the place. Each area is so much fun with the wine, the cheese, the coffee bar, the desserts, the deli, all of the different foods. There is a huge array of food to order whether it's the 20 something sandwiches, and soup options, or whatever is in the pretty clear glass case. They serve it up warm for you if you want. The food in the case ranges from salads, to pastas, to seafood and chicken. Served up either individual style or by pound. To me, the pound thing can get kind of tricky, but they will weigh it for you, and let you know how much it costs. Hold off on getting your ticket to make your order until you choose what you want to order. Just making a decision is a fun project in itself. Once you are ready, grab your number, and wait to be called. The service working there are very nice and helpful, especially for the ones that are not versed on their system of ordering. Everything looks and tastes scrumptious, and I can not wait to be back. I can definitely bring friends and family here too so they can check out the goodness of Mazzaro's.

Hands down, the best place I've been to in the Tampa area. Great food, tons of options and a daunting array of sandwiches, sides, desserts and drinks. Take the time to make the trip. You'll be well rewarded. Two thumbs up for the Ahi Tuna sandwich.

Mazzaros is a perfect place to go if you love Italian food... and it's not a Saturday. Mazzaros has a pasta bar, olive bar, gelato bar, bread and pastry section, cheese and wine section, sandwich/deli area... fresh meats and seafood, and so much more. Just know never ever to try to go on a Saturday. Everyone loves Mazzaros and comes on the weekends to stock up.

Mazzaro's has everything you could ever think of to polish off your Italian foodie cravings and Italian pantry. I have only been in for lunch, which gets crazy. Try to go early or later in the afternoon because the line is long in the deli and a bit unorganized. I had their grilled Caprese which was delicious. My friend had their chicken parm which she also enjoyed. I took home some of their pierogies for my Polish boyfriend. He said they tasted better than his grandma's (She is from Poland) homemade pierogies but don't tell her! Save room for dessert the bakery and coffee bar smells decadent! They also have a wine room, many grocery items, handmade pasta, a meat/seafood area, and cheese room. They have something for everyone and at a reasonable price. I only wish they were open later in the evening.

Do NOT, I mean it --- Do NOT try to go here for lunch unless you have atleast 1hr+ to spare. It was a mad house with GOOD reason. I ordered the Hot Italian and it was delicious. So hard to make a decision on one sandwich when there's so many and there's 30 people behind you salivating also. Sorry-no photo. The sandwich didn't stand a chance. Parking could be better but when it's a hot spot, what place really has great parking?

  • R Kim S.

Very busy which is a good thing. It says you've reached a good place to eat and buy what you need. The sandwiches are delicious and the deserts are great. The coffee is another good point in the pro side. In this place don't be afraid to raise your voice to get what you want. Oh and besides good food and a fun busy atmosphere did I mention that the prices are better than reasonable. Yea, talk about a great deal I spent 11 bucks on 2 delicious sandwiches 20 on deserts and 10 on groceries. Trust me when I say I got my monies worth and some.

My wife was born and raised in the area so of course she mentioned it. I never how awesome it was til the second time we went. The first time , the line was so long that it was even hard to get inside. We went back 2 days later and it was just like my wife described. It was one of the most unique grocery store/eatery/bakery/coffee shop I have ever been to. The smell, the display, the people who work there: i love everything about it. I wanted to try the coffee and the sweets there, but what the hell....I had another excuse to come back. We ordered an Chicken Parm Sandwich. It was great. If you make it there, get something to eat, buy a six pack. Sit outside. Eat. Drink. People watch. You will love it. I'm going back in May. Hopefully We will have time to go there more than once.

I don't have enough words to explain what an amazing place this is. My fiancé s family is from Naples and you can get anything your heart desires here. The choice of cheeses and wines is amazing. I bring everybody here who comes down to Florida for a visit!

  • Natasha D.

Mazzarro's is awesome! They literally have everything you would ever need and more. A market, a deli, a wine shop, an olive bar, meat market, bread market, seriously everything you would ever need. The line here also gets really long, like out the door long, so come early! It gets to be very overwhelming when inside, especially if ordering from the deli. There are SO many people crammed into this tiny place. But it is that good. If you have anxiety like I do in crowds, bring a buffer, like a big friend or a body guard because you will get run into multiple times. It's like herding sheep in that place. But SO worth it because everything is so good. You can also get free wine samples and walk around the store...mega bonus! It gets 4 out of 5 stars just because it is so busy and a tad overwhelming. Quality of food and service is spectacular.

    (4)

This place is amazing. Not much to add that hasn't already been said...if you haven't been yet, go, but if you decide to make it a Saturday visit, be prepared for massive I crowds.

Going to Mazzaro's is like visiting a theme park, and it requires a similar level of patience. Except at ungodly hours of the day, the parking lot is a circus and spots are at a premium. The place is always jam-packed with tourists, foodies, and hipsters. There are lines for everything. Prices are fair but not exactly cheap. And by the time you leave you may want to punch a kitten. So visit when you're in a good mood. Personally, there's not much here that I find worth the hassle of getting in and out of the door, and most of their offerings are too fatty and high calorie for my tastes. But, you know, Italian cuisine. The food trays are handy and are usually what force me to visit. Sometimes one does want to distract funeral attendees from the cold meat in a casket with cold meat on a tray.

Mazzaros is probably our favorite spot we found since we moved to Tampa nearly a year ago. From the freshest meats and fish to the freshly baked breads and baked goods, this spot is my JAM! Everything is delicious - favorites include the spinach & ricotta garlic rolls, whole wheat bread (it's not called whole wheat, I forget the name), fresh hazelnut ravioli (and other raviolis), truffle cheese, and all the fresh meats/seafood (we have gotten many different kinds and the quality is excellent. Tons of cheese and wine options (including tastings and samples). It gets packed, especially on Saturdays because they are closed on Sundays. Only thing we don't like is the coffee bar - always a long wait, no rhyme or reason for how they wait on people, and bitter espresso. An amazing spot....whether you are local or visiting, this is a spot not to miss!

  • Marc C.

I love this place! We stop by every time we visit St Pete. From the amazing pastries, to the fresh bread, to the home made pasta, It is all wonderful! The parking lot is a bit of a circus but, the goodies inside make it worthwhile. Please, please, please open a store near Raleigh...

  • Nick S.

I finally made it to the promised land!!! Not quite as bad as wandering in the desert for 40 years, this place does get busy in the snowbird season and can test your navigation skills. The upside is that they have a wonderful selection of breads, cheeses, chocolates, biscotti, pasta, olives, meats and other goodies at fairly reasonable prices. It's interesting to compare and contrast with the fancy gourmet market Locale in Downtown St. Pete at the newly revived Sundial complex. This place is more my speed. Definitely worth a visit. Just not the most relaxing shopping experience in the world. :) They also have a coffee bar. Mangia!!!!!

This place is a little slice of Heaven. Fresh and homemade cheeses, pasta, pastries, sandwiches as well as a ton of homemade food to take home. Huge wine selection. I can't say enough good things about Mazzaros! I go at least once a week. The first time you go can be a little overwhelming because it is usually very busy. Just ask someone who looks like they know what they are doing and they will lead you where you need to go.

    (5)
  • Matthew B.

Yelp seems to forget I've already given Mazzaros the highest of honors in my reviews. But I'll do it again and again. I come here at least once a week. Sometimes just for coffee, sometimes for lunch, sometimes to buy groceries. What I always leave with is something that ALL other stores fail to deliver, that being me in a better mood. Not a better mood because I just had to clear past a bus load of the elderly to get my sfogliatelle, but because this market is an experience plus carries all my gourmet favorites. 10 stars for Mazzaros!

  • Nicole S.

I ate the whole damn sub and I'm not even ashamed about it. Yeah, it was damn good. Everything was good. There are so many options for imported foods, homemade foods, like ravioli, desserts, and deli selections. The deli selection is incredible. I was blown away at the options, prices, and sizes of their subs. Plus they have premade thing slike chicken pot pie, chicken parm, roasted vegetables, baked ziti, and much more. You just can't beat the quailty and prices, try to compare to Subway and it's laughable. Just laughable. Only slightly confusing part was when we went to sit in their covered seating area there was a woman there telling us to take what we were going to eat from our shopping cart as food you eat there is taxed differently than grocery stuff. I hand my hands full with my 14 month old daughter so I didn't get the point really and just took everything since I didn't care about how it would be taxed as we purchased our deli foods. What I didn't understand was that she was actually directing us to leave our cart with her really. Had I known that I would have left things in our cart. No big, but only thing that threw me off, next time I'll be on my game.

There is no place better than Mazzaros! Huge $6 subs!!! What!?! I eat lunch here all the time. Coffee is delicious. Love the dessert area. They roast their own beans. They make everything in house. Subs made to order. Awesome place

Fantastic old world Italian market as in New York. Wonderful bakery with crust breads, pastries , cakes and sandwiches. But the other highlight is the market itself with all sorts of cheeses, imported salamis, meats and in house prepared Italian dishes to go. A great experience

No other place compares .... Just don't be in a hurry or claustrophobic. Parking is horrible, and it's like being on the front line of the stock exchange at the deli counter.... But it is sooooo worth it!

I never thought I would find this amazing Italian grocery store in Florida! I am a huge fan of Gloriosio's in Milwaukee but I have to confess that Mazzaro's beats them in size and selection. They have an in-house bakery that bakes some of the most amazing breads and cookies. I could stare at their amazing pastries for hours! Their deli has some great ready to cook options as well as sandwiches. The lobster roll is made fresh and you can't beat the price at $7. They have meat arancini and tons of other deli items. The only thing they didn't have were artichoke fritters which is one of my personal favorites. If I lived in St Pete, I would probably be in this place once a week. They have an entire deli case with fresh pasta sold by the pound and another case with sauces. There are take and bake pizzas which looked absolutely delicious. I noticed a nice coffee bar that was packed and also a wine store. Walk a little bit to their other store to find some great gift items, housewares and tea. I honestly can't say enough about this place. This is one-stop shopping for some of the finest Italian food!

I had major back surgery and came here the Saturday after. A dubious choice in retrospect, but mazarros makes it worth it.

It's been a little while since we went here. But when you tell people about the best Italian sandwich you have ever eaten and you would fly back to Florida just to eat here. You know it's good. We had a hot Italian sandwich that was to die for. The meat was amazing and so were the peppers. Then topped it off with a cannoli and some delicious chocolate baked goodie. We wanted to go again later that day but they closed early. Go out of your way to eat at the market in the back! So worth it!

Wow! It's like the holy Mecca of Italian goods in the Bay Area ! Can't believe I've never been before today! The wine & cheese room is awesome, the meats are priced great, and the food was delicious!

I can not say NO to this place. It is always PACKED. If you order a sandwich just remember they are BIG ... save room for expresso and dessert. It is not inexpensive, but worth every penny!

I died and woke up in Italian heaven! Walked into Italian paradise as I went up to the deli and ordered the Italian panini! Went around 11:30ish and it was packed from the moment I walked in till the moment I walked out! You will not be disappointed with any of your selections here. Order a sandwich from the deli or get wine and cheese from the massive selection they have and sit outside in the misty courtyard(which was the only disappointing factor, just since it was so hot that day). WAIT! no, of course you're not done yet.... you must get some dessert whether it is gelato, cannolis, tiramisu, or one of the many other desserts they have, you HAVE to try something! If you want to cook to impress you can certainly pick up some items here and have that big ole' Sunday dinner every Italian knows so well.

Why can't we have nice things like this at home? A unique little place with excellent food and imported items. The eggplant parm was heaven as was the items from the bakery. We did not have one thing that wasn't rave worthy. A real gem in St. Petersburg that's worth traveling to.

Why 5 stars? Because I was dumb originally rating it 4. --- --- --- When I first visited Mazzaro's, I honestly had no idea what it was. I went straight to the hot sandwich counter, and just kind of walked through the rest of the market with my eyes closed. In reality, Mazzaro's pretty much has everything edible that's ever been created. There's a great beer selection, they roast their own coffee beans, there's an entire room of cheese, it's a meat market, and they have all kinds of niche items like fancy olives and local honey. This place is a Tampa Bay treasure, and I am ashamed of my original 4 star rating.

This place literally blew me away! Voila! It feels like you've stepped out of St Pete and are in an Italian market (filled with lots of American tourists!). Immediately proceed to the back of the store and check out the deli and restaurant for a sit-down lunch (Superb!! A must!) Do this before choosing grocery items, since you must pay for your lunch items to gain patio seating. Leave time to grab your groceries on your way out.

This place just seems like the disney world of cafe shops. It's fanciful and unique but crowded. Trying to navigate the deli bar was extremely frustrating BUT it was not for the workers. Some people just do not understand the concept of pulling numbers and then stepping out of the way to be polite. However, the workers behind the counter were poised and courteous despite the onslaught. The great staff stood out in other areas as well! In the wine room and the cheese room I was helped by two men who were eager to answer questions, hold a conversation about their respective areas, and make me feel great even though I had little knowledge. I never felt rushed and I felt well-taken care of even though I was young and I definitely don't look rich. Great place. When I am back in town I will definitely keep going for the section of foods and service. Deli food: 4/5- Great for how inexpensive and mass made it is. Nothing really made me excited but it all tasted good. Gelato: 4/5- Small varieties but very tasty. Cheese: 5/5 - There's so much cheese! And the guy behind the counter really knows his stuff and will help you understand the differences between all those stinky rinds! Wine: 5/5- Good selection and multiple staff members seemed to know what they were talking about, including the location and story of many wineries. Market: 5/5- tons of imported items and variety. Bottom line: It's crowded but worth it. Probably best to skip lunch time on the weekends if you don't like crowds. Very helpful staff. Will be a repeat customer.

Shop, eat, or sit with a coffee or wine and enjoy the chaos! Mazzaro's has everything from wine to fresh meat and fish and vegetables to prepared foods, a real Italian bakery.... Pick a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal, sitting outside or at the coffee bar. I love their sandwiches and pastries. Coffee is outstanding. Staff are busy but friendly and helpful. It's intimidating at first - the crowds, the labyrinth feeling, the noise and perhaps unfamiliar goods. Just relax and go with it!

I went inside and I nearly fainted. The smell of garlic, roasted peppers, and Italian cheese permeated through my nose, just making me feel so alive. We went to the deli counter, where about 20 people were waiting for their sandwich orders. Mom got a roast beef while I got a salami and capicola. They topped the sandwiches with provolone cheese, Romaine lettuce, Italian slaw, tomatoes, red onions, roasted peppers, oil, vinegar, and Italian spices. First, having lettuce and cabbage was really different. I almost feel like I didn't need the lettuce with the slaw being on there. And the red onions didn't work for me, I felt they were just too strong. But the meat was fresh and that bread was just perfect. Soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and just thick enough to keep all those ingredients inside. Really good. I also tried the Italian sausage sandwich. The sausage was really flavorful. Juicy and I could really taste the Italian spices. There was quite a lot of provolone cheese and a ton of peppers and onions. I would really recommend getting marinara sauce on them; that would have taken this sandwich over the top. We also got two cannolis. I had never had a cannoli quite like this. The cream wasn't bright white, as most are. This had some brown specks. Later, I found out the brown specks were cinnamon oil and the oil gave the cannoli a richness and sophistication that I have never had in another cannoli. Just tremendous. The next day, I went back and got a pistachio crusted cannoli and it was eve better! The sesame cookies were great too. This was in a pretty desolate area of town, surrounded by car washes, empty parking lots, a huge record store, and the site of a future Dunkin' Donuts. But I could tell this place was the real deal because it had statues outside of lions and the Virgin Mary! It's no wonder I went there twice on my trip!

One of our favorite items: the fresh mozzarella cheese! We can buy 3, and finish them off within a day! So juicy, full of flavor and it really puts store bought mozzarella to shame! I also find myself spending no less than $50 each time we visit. Mostly because they have items we can't find elsewhere. I love this place and I'm so happy they are in St. Pete (15 minutes from home)! Don't forget to visit their gift shop store next door! Amazing stuff to find or even just browse! :)

This is by far the best Italian in the area. Whether you are coming for a quick bite to eat for lunch and getting a sandwich from their fresh made deli, or getting fresh Italian ingredients to cook for a party of 20 this is some of the best anywhere. Can't stress how great this place is and how awesome the quality of foods and wines are.

I could not rave enough about this place. If I had to pick my last meal, it would come from here. Don't be in a hurry and expect a crowd. You must stop and check out everything from the cheese/wine room to the prepared foods, hot sandwiches, and coffee bar. After eating, get your cart to shop. The ravioli to take home is the best I'v ever tasted anywhere! The baked goods cannot be beat. Large wine/beer selection, produce, meats, deli, etc. I could not name it all. We never leave without a bag of their Luigi whole coffee beans for grinding and brewing at home. I cannot find a better coffee (and they make an Italian roast in decaf too). Stop by and I promise you'll be back.

Simply on of the best places in all of St. Pete. It's not just great, it's amazing! The best sandwiches you will ever eat with the freshest bread and meats I have ever had! And the most expensive sandwich they serve is only $6.99! They sell butchered meats, Italian deli favorites, Aged salami, prosciutto, ham, etc, fresh pastas, they have a HUGE cheese and wine room that will knock your socks off! And their coffee is some of the best you will ever taste! It's like a foodie paradise this joint! What can I say that hasn't already been said! It's an Italian Disney world tucked into a suburban St. Pete neighborhood! If you haven't been there, you are missing out! Mamma Mia!

Love this place but unfortunately so does everyone else. No matter what time of the hour or day I visit this place it's packed to the point you can barely move. I'm talking Disney World busy. I think they need to open another one, preferably in Clearwater. Anyway the food is good. I love their fresh mozzarella, bread and ravioli. The staff isn't very friendly though and you have to watch out or they will literally run over you. When I ask to purchase/sample some cheese they act like I'm inconveniencing them. Like I asked them for their right arm or something. Nice place but like everything there is room for improvement.

This place is off the hook! It is a foodies Italian market paradise. We sampled a cannoli with pistachios from there bakery along with some of the house coffee which were both super Yummo-riffic! We took home some lasagna with sausage and baked ziti from their deli, both of which were quite tasty. We also got a loaf of their Italian bread which was also very good. I have to take off a star for the ribeye steaks I git from the meat counter which were labeled as "choice" beef but were tough like shoe leather. I cooked them to a perfect medium in my grill pan as I often do but they were just too hard to chew. Lesson learned, but we will be back to shop and get more baked goods, pasta and especially some of their coffee.

I have visited Mazzaro's at least ten times so far. From the deli, I have tried hot Italian sub, Italian panini, tomato mozzarella panini, hamburger, sesame tuna wasabi sandwich, and other side dishes. My favorite is hot Italian sub and will be for a long. Coffee bar serves best coffee. I usually get iced latte or hot cappuccino. Make sure you stop by the gift shop located next to the market. You will find a nice selection of kitchen tools, dishes, kitchenware mostly imported from Italy.

OH THE ZOOMANITY For newbies, merely parking can be an adventure. Even if it's 30 minutes to close going through the parking lot still feels like Christmas Eve at the mall but luckily there are traffic directors. People are still streaming in and out. Once inside you can kiss all personal space good bye. I know this will sound like an overwhelming AHHHH 'too-many-people' review... but something about all this is exciting and fun and FIVE STARS! SIGHTS SOUNDS SMELLS Just like the shoppers, all the items for sale are crowded into each other. There's a good number of packaged items like pasta, oils, and candy but the most appealing are the deli stations. I'll admit I'm no Italian food expert however I'll review these just as a person seeking fresh, home-tasting food. Fresh Meats, Cheeses, Pastries all tempt you at the deli--and most catch your eyes because you typically don't see these at 'regular' supermarkets. There's also a couple areas for dining although I'll admit as of this writing I have yet to actually eat anything from the café or the outdoor patio. I typically visit here to stock up on drinks- a variety of fresh roasted Coffee beans (you can grind them into Espresso there too), a plethora of craft Sodas and craft Beer, and the HUGE Wine room (where they typically offer samples as well.) TAKING TO GO The ready-assembled Lasagnas, Pizza, and Dessert are crowd pleasers. I find the prices here are typical of a café and not too high at all--plus you can't put a price on rare items.

Woah they sell Foxon Park soda. Yea that's right. If you're from southern Connecticut then you're familiar with the Foxon Park name and you know it's a tell tale sign of italian authenticity for a restaurant or market. So even before I purchased anything I already felt this place was OK in my book. It's like I never left home. I picked up some panini's and Italian pastries. All of them were great. My ham & cheese panini could have used a little bit more meat but for $5 + change it was a bargain. The pastries, believe it or not, we're some of the best pastries I've ever had. The cannolis and sfogliatellas could easily hold their own against the best of NY Italian pastry shops. And you're hearing that from a guy who grew up on Italian pastry. Oh and their "Mazzaro" labeled eclair might have looked sort of tacky but boy oh boy was it "magnifico!" Others have already described the layout of Mazzaro's. It's sort of a cross between Eatily in NYC and Stew Leonard's, and just as crowded. I loved the religious statues scattered throughout the store. Of course my mom pointed out the Saint Joseph statue sitting in the corner. Like Foxon Park Saint Joseph is OK in my book. After all he's got a great name.

We,ve been buying Italian sausage here since beginning. Live here and enjoy the experience greatly. Sooo much to see and smell. We buy our hard cheeses here from the cheese shop. Have sections for everything you can think of. Prepared meals available or meatmarket stellar. We can't find better sausage anywhere. I bought some Himalayan salt and bags of spices so reasonably priced. My husband gets rare sodas from his past to enjoy on the trip home. We Love this place. Because they are so loved go with patience...many others love it too. Store usually busy and parking too. However; it is worth the trip..you'll see.

This is one of my favorite place around. It has grown in size over the years and they have a wine room, a tiny cafe. They also added a kitchenware shop in a separate building. Their sandwiches are great and so is their market selection. You can also buy pre-made pizzas and lasagna so you can bring it home and cook it for yourself or tell someone you made it yourself (wink, wink).

  • Hoda B.

This a heaven for Italian food lovers like me. the place have it all, from fresh made pasta, to a HUGE selection of cheese, salami and wines. When you walk in, you feel like you stepped into a deli in south Italy. I bought fresh mozzarella, and even fresher baguette and chicken cranberry wrap. They all tasted wonderfull!! even the cucumber soda that I bought was delicious, if we weren't in a hurry and on our way to the beach, I would have bagged more goodies that this place is loaded with, I need another trip for that, and I will be coming back soon.

It's been at least 5 years since I've been to Mazzaro's, but I've been dying to grab some yummy food from here for a while now. The first time we tried to come on the weekend, and decided when we couldn't find parking that it wasn't meant to be. I came early today on a Tuesday, thinking I would beat the lunch rush, but it was still nutty in there! You take a number and wait, order then wait, then once you have your food you have to wait in line to pay out in the courtyard (that's only if you want to eat there). I usually ordered the caprese sandwich in the past, but I saw on Yelp people were raving about the Wasabi tuba. It definitely was good, the wasabi sauce was the perfect amount of spicy, and they give you a really nice amount of sesame tuna for what you pay. My meal and a drink came well under $10. Wish I lived closer or brought a cooler because I would have loved to bring some fresh pastas back home! I'll definitely be back for raviolis :)

If you can deal with the anxiety of a very busy deli counter, with a few dozen people standing almost shoulder to shoulder waiting to get a number to give their order and then waiting a (reasonably and understandably) long time to get your food, it's worth it. We had a divinely delicious tuna wasabi sandwich. Possibly the greatest sandwich I've ever had. Grilled bread, black and regular sesame crusted tuna, wasabi mayo, pickled ginger, and alfalfa sprouts. 100% legit. Getting in and out of the store was kind of hellish, but it was worth the struggle. If you're in the area and you want a great sandwich or any of the other treats inside, definitely check it out. Just make sure you can deal with the crowd and you have time to wait.

Hey - I have visited this place for many many years - living only blocks away from it - I decided long ago that it was WAAAYY over priced - over rated - over crowded ! I LOVE their breads - and this is the BEST bread in town and a value at the reasonable prices they charge - only $.50 =$1.00 more than what you would pay for a loaf at the super market that has no where near the same quality or taste or presentation. The ROUND 'star' loaf is beautiful and the BEST ! Now - for the rest..I have purchased various ready mades from the deli -including lasagna varieties and lots more. For the price of a square (approx. $6-7) - NOT WORTH THE PRICE - for a few more bucks you can go get nice fresh (not reheated) hot lasagna with bread, salad , soups etc at Olive Garden at a nice sit down table with great waiters - you can get MORE & BETTER & FRESHER pasta at any number of local Italian restaurants Italia Mia, CD Romas etc for cheaper ! As for the bakery - well they make SOME yummy looking stuff for a HEFTY PRICE - BUT BUYER BEWARE! My fiance just bought a Cannoli Cake from them 07/25/2015 for a party - I was AMAZED that the cannoli shells were filled with WHIP CREAM ! - I COULD NOT FIND ONE BIT OF RICOTTA CHEESE in the cannoli shells - nothing but cheap white cake - cannoli shells , whip cream and chocolate morsels ! AT $25 this cake was a COMPLETE RIP OFF!!! NUFF SAID ? If you are a tourist or never been - I would recommend at least one visit as the place is unique inside and out - just a get a loaf of their yummy bread and some Irish cream butter ..and do your best to get past the bakery display ---

We have frequented Mazzaro's on many occasions, because it is truly as close to Italy as you can find in the U.S. It is truly a great day trip destination if you do not live nearby. Upon entering you will see ornate Italian cars and collectibles like entering a museum of food. Besides the wonderful restaurant to enjoy FRESH made Italian cuisine, but you can also take time to buy all your favorite Italian foods in their Italian Market. Everything from fresh produce, quality meat market, deli, olive bar, imported cheeses, gourmet goodies, wines from around the world, pastas fresh, Italian bakery all made there! They offer a wine tasting on Fridays and Saturdays. While dining in the restaurant or bar, you can typically rub elbows with Italians that are there for an Italian reason! I can't wait to go back again very soon, next time with a cooler to store all the wonderful fresh produce and meats. Heavenly foodie experience !

Ohhhhh I'm going to tear up that HOT Italian..... I'm talking about their sandwich people! This place bakes their own bread and makes awesome sandwiches with them. Everything here is perfect. I love it all!! They have an amazing cheese selection, fresh meats, great beer and wines to choose from, deli, fresh pastas and a oh so delicious bakery. I drive across the bridge to come here at least once a month. They have frozen pizza dough for $1.50. I like to stock up on those for a quick snack or meal. They take a hour or 2 to defrost and it's fantastic. Places like this make me envy St. pete and I wish we had one locally

Oh my goodness! That pasta sauce smell coming out of their garage out back is incredible. I don't know if it always smells like that or if they were in the middle of making something but it was amazing. I will go back to Mazzaro's just to smell it again....seriously. If Febreze had that scent, I would buy a box of it. I highly recommend taking a walk by their garages. Mazzaro's is a destination market. It's worth the trip from Tampa or to check out if you're a tourist, especially if you're Italian. They have all kinds of gourmet food, cheeses, deli meats, wine, bakery items, spices, chocolates, etc, etc. You can watch them make handmade raviolis through a window near the coffee bar. The coffee bar is pretty cool. However, the service at the bar is not good. One particular woman was a total buzzkill. She should not be working with the general public. Not a pleasant person and it shows on her face. Seemed to rub off on her coworker too. Maybe they don't like working together. I don't know. I'm not sure what was going on there but it's the main reason why I rated Mazzaro's 4 stars instead of 5. Plus the coffee I got had a burnt flavor. All in all, it's a cool place to check out even if you don't intend on buying much. The ambience and vintage Italian decor is pretty interesting. Vespas on a shelf, pictures of the Pope, religious statues, cool retro signs. Unique market worth checking out.

Ugh! SO much to love here! The meat counter is 100% top-notch and often has better deals on steaks that put even Publix to shame. The prepared foods and subs are to die for. Same goes for the fresh-made, take and go pasta counter. Their ravioli are almost magic and never disappoint. The cheese selection is impressive and expansive. Both Fresh Market and Whole Foods selections combined, look silly compared to the Mazzaro's cheese room. I always go here with a budget in mind and quickly toss all reason aside and end up blowing at least $50 or more......and it's always worth it! If you consider yourself a "cook," "chef," or "foodie?" Mazzaro's is like a true culinary THEME PARK! My only complaint would be the hours. Closing at 6pm M-F and at 2:30pm on Sat (closed Sun) makes it tough for the working-class folks. I tried one visit on a Saturday and it was way too crowded and chaotic for my liking. Almost like attending a culinary "concert?" It's ok. I still love you. Actually your hours are probably a good thing for me or else I would totally blow my budget, week after week, on your awesome offerings! Five cheers and stars for Mazzaro's!

This is by far the best Italian market that we have found living in the Tampa Bay Area! They are closed Sunday so make sure you schedule yourself to go Monday through Saturday. But on Saturdays they are only open until 230pm. The place was packed but we found that once you took your ticket they got to you very quickly. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food out of this world! My husband had a Italian meat sub and he said it was the best he's ever had! Now that's saying something! I had a couple of meatballs and eggplant Parmesan and the meatballs were so big I could only eat one and I didn't finish the eggplant so I have leftovers for tomorrow. Once you pay for your food you can sit in their patio area and enjoy your purchase. Your visit here will not be complete until you stop by their bakery. I miss the bakeries from growing up in New Jersey and this is exactly what I was looking for! They have my favorite rainbow cookies which are so good. They make a chocolate version and a white chocolate version. And the cookies with the jam inside dipped in chocolate are to die for. Make this's Saturday outing . You won't be disappointed.

Shopping at Mazzarro's is like a quick vacation to Sicily or like spending time with my grandfather. The atmosphere is was makes the food, wine and coffee so good. Mazzarro's is one of those rare compilations of effort that creates the perfect shopping experience, where everything comes together so well that you cannot believe it's real. The sommelier can find you anything you want. The bakery is excellent bar none. The deli is worth the wait and grab More than you think you need. Perfection!

Wow. My boyfriend is Italian and even he was impressed. We were here on a weekday and it wad still very crowded. I was told to avoid werkends. We had a sandwich made at the deli and sat at the bar and ordered wonderful coffee to go along with. After buying too many groceries we meandered over to the gift shop and I found two wonderful gifts for Christmas. This place is pricey but worth the experience. Don't miss the desert section, the eclairs are to die for.

I just don't even know what to say about this place... my inner fat kid just did the happy dance! This market is AMAZING!!!!! the wine and cheese selection is out of this world and they have a little area of the market where they have fresh, handmade pastas!!!!! There is a little café area in the center that we didn't check out this time because we wanted to get all our goodies we were buying home, but it looked and smelt yummy. We will definitely have to eat at the café next time. The big building next door to the market is their kitchen store. It is loaded with kitchen wares and all kinds of gifts. I cannot wait to go back but I think I need to wait until payday :) if you love Italian food.... you will love this market! (it is easy to get lost in there for a few hours looking at all the yumminess!)

Darling and surprisingly extensive Italian market. They have produce, meat counter, deli counter with salads, cheese, and meat plus coffee bar and full bakery. Divine! Especially loved the spicy olive artichoke salad and the antipasta. They also sell singles of local beers and sodas. This place is like a mini Italian vacation... And I was just in Tuscany in May!

Great Experience for Italian food lovers! We lucked into a low-crowd day. The muffaletta ($5.50) was ginormous and delicious. The flavors were so vivid with the freshness of the meats and cheeses. The Thanksgiving Panini special was good (turkey, cheese, cranberries, pressed). Enjoyed a strawberry lemonade and a Florida lager from the beverage cooler. Everyone was friendly, informative and quick. Had a large variety of artisanal cheeses from small Italian farms. Had a couple of fine samples out for tastes. (cheese was a little expensive but fair as an import and handmade). Large wine room, great imported food section. Large variety of meats at the butcher counter. Prices were good, meat was fresh. Lots of dried meats like sopressata. Lovely bakery with over 30 kinds of cookies (great biscotti in at least six flavors). We had a decadent amaretto ball--huge for $3 and took a big rum ball home, equally as yummy. I didn't like the chocolate covered bacon combo but that was just ME. Can't wait to go back and try some of the handmade pastas and sauces and their lasagna. This is my new favorite food store!

TL;DR - Perfect place for a weekend lunch date and everything italian Mazzaro's is basically one huge sensory overload. You walk in and you're instantly hit with fresh aroma of deli meats. Decor covers the walls that makes you feel like you're in another country. The big crowds resemble that of the hustle and bustle of a small foreign market place. There are huge lines everywhere and for everything but If you plan your visit right, it truly is a remarkable experience. Here's what to do. 1) Go straight to the deli in the back of the store and take a number and wait to be called. Don't venture too far as they take orders quickly! Getting your order is a different story as that takes a little bit longer 2) You'll have give or take 15 minutes until your food is ready so go browse their vast selection of imports of olive oils, spices, pastas, and other itialian goods. Take note of what you want to buy but wait to pick it up AFTER lunch because you have to pay for your groceries and food separately if you want to eat there. Save the long line for the END 3) Head over to their wine and beer section. If you're lucky, they'll have a free wine, cheese, and meat sampling. Treat this as a light appetizer for your sammiches! 4) Had your fill of vino? Now it's about time to go pick up your lunch. They have tons of unique bottled sodas and drinks to go along with your food. These are located in a row of coolers along the back wall, next to the patio area where you pay for your lunch and eat. Remember, no groceries allowed in this line. I saw some people enjoying a bottle of wine from the store with their lunch but I'm not 100% sure if you can pay for those here or at the front with the rest of your other stuff. 5) NOM NOM NOM! I got the 8" Italian sandwich served on fresh italian bread. The meats and flavors are anything like I've ever tasted and are definitely of a different quality than your typical chain sub shop. My girlfriend got the herb crusted italian panini thats lightly sprinkled with sea salt. Very similar fillings but completely different sandwich in a good way. There's a patio area in the back where you can eat your lunch. While you stand in line to pay, have your significant other scavenge for an empty table which can be hard to find on a busy afternoon. 6) After you're done eating and before your brain can tell you no, run over to the bakery and choose from the dozens of pastries or creamy gelato to complete your meal. Now is the time to pick up anything you were looking to buy. That way, at least you'll have some dessert to make the long line more enjoyable 7) Repeat on a different weekend!!!

I saw absolutely nothing negative with this place. I guess maybe the crowds. lol. I WILL be back.

Love coming here and just smelling all those good cheeses and cured meats. My favorite part is the bakery. Always come here to get a good cannoli.... or five. If you want real authentic Italian products, this is the place to go! Even if you don't stop to buy anything, just go here to smell!

  • M R.

Yeah... Wow. LOVED Mazzaro's. It is huge, it is busy, the smells are incredible and I want to eat everything. Had an amazing sandwich and I loved the cannoli because the filling was creamy mascarpone and the cannoli were not soggy. Buy a sandwich, buy a cannoli and then stalk a seat at the espresso booth... Ahhhh! La dolce vita!

First visit. Got a Philly cheesesteak to split with my boyfriend and a bag of kettle cooked spicy dill pickle chips. One word: Delightful! The sandwich was meaty, cheesy goodness on the softest, toasted bun. The chips were a great addition. Loved the place. Will be back. Can't wait to try more things on the menu and the coffee bar!

I am aware of all the raves this place gets and am disappointed that it did not turn out to be a great experience for me. I have been here twice before and I am very very disappointed by their desserts. First time I had a creme brulee ($5) and it was nothing like you would expect...It does not even have a right to be called a creme brulee. It was way too sweet and it tasted purely like a canned creme filing. But I did not give up. I came back second time hoping this time will be a better experience. I ordered a tiramisu ($4), thinking they must have a fablous tiramisu since this is a classic Italian dessert. How wrong was I? It turned out to be the WORST TIRAMISU I have ever tasted in my life. The cake was very very dry and the creme was still too cheesy. I mean the cake is supposed to be soaked in coffee and it should have the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. I took ONE BITE and THREW AWAY the rest of the cake. They cannot even make a classic Italian dessert right. I am starting a three month diet from tomorrow and I am so pissed that this was the last dessert I picked!! I had their chicken perm sandwich, which was good. Though It is very hard to eat I must say. They have 3 different kinds of coffee everyday...they are nothing special. I might come back to try their pasta, meat&seafood and cheese. But never again will I order a dessert from this place.

Cute Italian market/deli place. Came across this place while yelping for a place for lunch. We got some sandwiches to go and some cold side dishes. Prices are pretty reasonable. Oh and don't forget the dessert bar! Just walking by it made my mouth water! YUM! There's a seating area outdoor but if it's too hot, there are limited seating inside by the coffee bar. Inside the market, there's also a cheese and wine room where they have assortment of cheeses and friendly staff there to answer all your cheese and wine questions :)

This place was like no where I have ever been before! I think the craziness of how busy it was made it even better! From walking in.... go the cheese and wine area, which we got to taste some cheese... some crackers with bruschetta and some wine. I did purchase a Moscato wine, which was the last bottle of the ones they were sampling and had to be the best wine I have ever purchased! Then to desserts area. It was packed in this area but we were helped very quickly. I was sad that the chocolate bacon had just sold out when we walked up. My hubby really wanted to try that. The fresh made pasta area was incredible! As was the foods area! That part was crazy insane packed, but as we were pushing our way through we saw all the yummy goodness of the Chicken Parm... pizza rolls,... basically most italian meals! And you can either take it home... or have it warmed up to eat there. I will be visiting again when I return to the area!

Everything that can be said about Mazzaro's has already been said - over the past decade it's become a St. Petersburg institution and is one of the first places I bring out-of-town guests (even the European ones are bowled over by the quality of the cappuccinos and baked goods). I love that I can get my beloved Kinder chocolate from Germany there, and the wine and cheese room is like Heaven's inner sanctum. I would like to suggest, though, now that places like Yelp and word of mouth has exploded the popularity of this place, that maybe Mazzaro could open another coffee bar in the other, newer building? Because the mob scene at the original bar is unrelenting no matter what hour you go, and I feel a little sorry for the poor, frazzled baristas who never get a break! A dedicated coffee shop could ease the crush and bring business over to the newer venture in the annex.

One thing to note: if you're talking deli sandwiches and bakery items, it's dirt cheap so the $$ can be misleading. One of the best delis in Tampa Bay, and easily the cheapest. The atmosphere is very northeastern: don't expect long conversations with the staff, and if it's busy you had better know what you want before you pull a ticket. The hot Italian is their flagship sandwich, it's delicious but don't get it to go unless you separate veg meat and bread. The burger, Reuben, turkey, roast beef, and chicken parm sandwiches are all fantastic. Oh and did I mention the deli is just one of 5 departments here?

5 stars all the way. Even with the crowd. But a crowd usually means it's good, right? Mazzaros is huge Italian market in one of the most unexpected places in Florida, I mean really, St. Petersburg? You can get pretty much get anything here; huge raw meat case where you can get anything from beef tongue to swordfish steaks. Next you'll come to the frozen foods case, don't pass this one up! You can find their homemade lasagna , cannoli cream, and some other frozen, homemade, Italian fare. Some of the best lasagna I've ever had, great to grab and heat up for a crowd. After the frozen case you'll pass the wine and cheese room. Enormous wine selection and they make their own mozzarella. I always grab some every time I pass through! The final, and largest area has the coffee bar, dessert case, deli counter, and market area. The sandwiches at the deli are all AMAZING, not to mention super affordable. Just had an ahi tuna sandwich with wasabi mayo recently. GREAT. There is also a large selection of prepared deli items, but frankly it's always so crowded in there it feels rude to crowd up to front and browse......maybe another time. The dessert case is also enormous, one stand out I can remember is the cannoli cake, which I thought just had a canolli on top. WRONG, it has canolli cream LAYERS. Seriously, when I get married, this is what is going in the layers of my wedding cake. Every time I come here I always bring an ice chest; so I can take some Mazzaros goodness all the way back to Gainesville.

Food = 5 (the tuna and wasabi sandwich was one of the best and most interesting things I've had in a long long time. Price = 5 (they are right on) Experience = 5 (what a place!!! go when it's not crowded for the best experience... it's always crowded.) I love this kind of place and these Italians do it better than I've ever seen... in the states.

We've been going to Mazzaro's whenever possible for a few years. We are still working our way through their offerings and have yet to be one little bit disappointed. EVERYTHING is great, sandwiches, bakery, deli, cheeses, olive bar, desserts, cappuccinos, pasta..... Our only problem is its hard to resist the Hot Italian Sub and try something new. So much wonderful food. So little stomach, and so little time!

I totally took a trip to Italy today! And by trip I mean a short drive, and when I say Italy, I really mean Mazzaro's! I approach the deli counter and says 'Hey, this is my first time here...I need a little help' and Anthony said 'Whutzamattahwityous'. OK ok, I confess, the man didn't say that but his name really was Anthony and he was a huge help! Walked out of there with stuffed grape leaves, fresh maine lobster ravioli, a wonderful tomato creme sauce and although I know I asked for 1/4lb, Anthony hooked up at least 1/2lb of Bresaola. I can personally attest that everything was delicious and the vibe was an italian market! You've got people haggling over the toppings on the subs from 3 rows deep, a cheese monger offering samples of some saffron something cheese and a grandpa strumming the guitar and singing acapela in the corner because he feels like it! All of these aspects and more instantly transported me to another time, another land, and it was a very welcome, and very good trip indeed.

One thing I miss about my former job, is the daily visits to Mazzaro's on my lunch break. The coffee was always fresh and the prices were decent. It's an adventure for your senses, Mazzaro's pretty much has a crowd whenever I go, but if you go after 3pm, mainly after the lunch crowd, you can easily find a table and it's less crowded. Which is great if you only have 30 minutes, since finding a parking space was usually the main problem. I didn't shop the market as much as I would of liked, but they have an amazing selection, you can pretty much think you've seen it all, and find something new. The staff is friendly, but be ready with your order, while there's a lot of staff, due to the number of customers that are usually in line, they don't have time to wait for indecisiveness.

AMAZING!! This place is worthy enough to bring out of town guests to check it out. You really feel like you've stepped into a different world when you enter here. A big, bustling street market - indoors! It's a little of everything - restaurant, deli counter, coffee bar, bakery, wine shop, and extensive gourmet market. Protip - Make sure to try the dark chocolate covered bacon slices in the bakery, at 1.50 each - it's an incredible treat! The only reason it's not 5 stars is the confusing setup and massive, thronging crowds. Trying to get a simple coffee is tough. At least the deli counters have a "take a number" thing to maintain some order. DO NOT EVEN TRY to go here during lunch hour. It's simply not worth it and the frustration will be high. If you have to go on the weekend, get there when they open Saturday. I went on a weekday afternoon at 2pm and it was madness.

It's not just a place to have a meal....it's an adventure!!! It's like foodie-Disneyland. Bring your appetite but eat first, or you'll buy everything in the store. Grilled caprese sandwich to die for, and have one of the Mazzaro eclairs....holy heaven!!

I could go to Mazzaro's every single day! This place is a foodie's paradise. As soon as you walk in there's a beautiful meat case/counter filled with the finest cuts of beef, pork, lamb, etc., as well as house made sausages. It's definitely pricier than Publix, but I like to buy meat there for special occasions, like Father's Day and my husband's birthday. After gawking at the meat, I like to hit up my favorite section, The Cheese Room! My heart races just thinking about it. Hope and the others who work in the Cheese Room are unbelievably friendly and helpful, even when the place is packed. They'll help you pick out the perfect cheeses based on your likes and needs. You can sample many of the cheese. If it isn't factory sealed, then you can try it. Ask them to start a cheese card for you too. They'll keep a record of your preferences and all the cheeses you try and/or buy so you don't have to remember the long names. The pastry counter is incredible too! I like to go there for their house made gelato. Though, I wish I didn't have to pay for it separately. The pastries are a beautiful sight. We just tried a few of them for Father's Day. The Mazzaro's chocolate eclairs, mini decadence cakes, white Napolean cakes, raspberry jelly rolls and brownies are all so good. I also can't get enough of the chocolate covered bacon. Finally there's the pasta and deli counters. I really want to try some of their house made ravioli soon. They have so many fresh pastas to choose from! The deli counter is great too. I like to get the meatball or hot Italian subs and eat them on the patio with one of their hard-to-find-elsewhere sodas. The pasta salads are awesome too. The only downside to this place is that it's no longer a secret. Mazzaro's is packed every weekday by 11am and all day on Saturday. So plan on being elbow to elbow with strangers. This market is a must go for locals and visitors who love local food.

Visited St Petersburg for the day and this place was a must stop for me due to the raving online reviews. I felt like I was transported to another world. This is the 1 stop shop Italian market with coffee bar, restaurant, sandwich shop, cheese & wine tasting bar. Wish that I arrived early cause the whole place is enormous and so much stuff to try but only had about an hour cause they close early on Saturdays (2pm). Nevertheless, sat at the busy coffee bar and had a small chocolate cheesecake and espresso...or make that 2 :) Nice buzzing place to hangout and people watch while shopping for everything Italian. By luck I was able to participate at the very end of the wine tasting so the espresso helped a lot :) Will definitely bring an empty luggage next time and fill it with Italian goods from this wonderful market....cheese and wine for me anytime!

Mazzaro's deserves the overflowing parking lots and customers. Great sandwiches, coffee, pasta, etc. The awesomeness is well documented in other reviews. So for my review I'll just add that I hope Mazarro's will stop using styrofoam containers and cups and switch to something more sustainable. I also wish they would offer more vegan options or more fair trade coffee. Other than that, they are great!

Phenomenal selection of cheeses, wines, fresh and frozen pastas and sauces. The atmosphere is delitdul, you feel as though you are missing out on seeing half of the items because there is so much to see. I avtually felt pike I was in a local market in NYC or even better...in Italy itself! Pretty good prices. Great back Atio to order a sandwich or sit at their coffee bar and relax a little. Taste some of their wines and sample their cheeses. They are experts at pairings and even will recommend pastas and meats with the wines you choose. Wish they would open one in Tampa proper. A true gem!

Great authentic food, can get hard to find items, fresh handmade and home made food. My personal favorites: The $5.00 cold italian sandwich at the deli (can't eat the whole thing in one sitting), the cannollis but anything from the bakery. Very Affordable! Eat there or bring it home. Deli, Produce, Butcher, Bakery, Wine, cheese, coffee, etc. Busy place, only because its so fantastic and anyone that goes there knows they found a little hidden gem.

It's an excellent Italian market and deli, and its did is to die for. I tried their Ruben and one of their paninis, and I was amazed how well priced and delicious they were. One of my favorite food places in st Petersburg easily

This place is so neat! It can get a little tight-squeezed, so avoid ANY weekend visits if you aren't comfortable with crowds. They are almost always busy when they are open, but trust me - its worth every minute you have to wait for the deli or food counter. The coffee bar and patio give you both a fun Italian-market shopping experience as well as a great place for a fresh hearty or rustic meal. My fav is the spicy italian sausage they make in house. The butcher has decent prices too. Oh gosh - the cheese room is absolutely amazing too. Don't miss the olive bar or bakery either!

Mazzaro's is a trip back to my home in NYC. So many delicious imports - meats, cheeses, wines - I think I gain weight just browsing. They have a cafe with great coffee and espresso as well as a bakery that smells and tastes phenomenal. If you can make it for lunch, go to the deli counter, grab a number and order anything on the menu, then enjoy it on their covered porch. You won't regret it.

LOVE this place!! From 22nd Ave N it looks like it will be a small shop, but head around back to the multiple parking lots and you realize it is several buildings . . . head inside and you will be blown away!! Where else can you start the morning over great coffee learning Italian, do some shopping, get some gelato and finish with lunch? They have an amazing meat / seafood counter - the sea bass never fails. They also have an olive bar, wine room, cheese room, pasta / deli counter, bakery, spice area and a coffee/sandwich counter. The overall experience is fun and unique. This morning they had an older Italian man playing guitar and singing to folks in the check out line - anything to make the time pass. They have photo opps out front with fun painted Fiat's and other Italian styled stuff. Friend them on FB so you can get a list of the weekly panini, soup specials and other yummy stuff. Before you head over check their hours because they close at 2pm on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays. Don't be rushed when you go, make it an outing and explore.

This is a great event. Food to eat onsite. Cheese and wine for tasting. Much more to take home. The sandwiches are awesome with favorites for the whole familigia. Meatball sub the size of baseballs. Italian that would make mama Lucia happy. My favorites include hot sammies along with a side from their display case. Fresh pasta, sauce along with cakes, deserts and gelato. Getting hungry writing about it!

Wow!!! This place is truly amazing! Everything I had was just incredible. The hot Italian sandwich on their crusty bread was one of the best I have had anywhere. After falling all over the sandwich, I had a cannoli, it was almost as good as the ones you get in manhattan. I also highly recommend the chocolate decadent cake, it's extremely rich, and as described...decadent. This was one of the best Italian spots I've ever come across.

How has it taken me this long to write about Mazzaro's Italian Market? We're here at least once a week, often more to pickup fresh bread and an easy, inexpensive lunch. Mazzaro's is a landmark to locals, but somehow a secret otherwise. Seriously, every travel guide for St. Pete should recommend it. Mazzaro's has: - A vast selection of fine imported cheeses. The greatest variety and quality I've seen anywhere (and we moved here from NY). - A wine room with many imported and domestic varieties, but especially fabulous are the little-known Italian wines that are available. After last summer in Italy, I appreciate that local Italian "table wine" is cheap and amazing. Of course you can buy to take home, but they'll also provide glasses and uncork for you. The husband and I have been known to come in for a focaccia and afternoon drink on their outdoor patio... - An outdoor patio where you can sit to eat/drink any of their wares. Not air conditioned, but they have huge fans running, and complimentary ice water available. - An indoor bar; that's bar in the Italian sense, where you order espresso drinks and sit quickly to sip and have a pastry. - homemade gelato - a bakery, baking fresh breads with traditional Italian recipes EVERY DAY. And it's inexpensive! Get a Tuscan miche, you won't be disappointed. Actually, get anything and you won't be disappointed. It's all so fresh and so good. They sell honey wheat loaves, french and italian baguettes, sourdough, ciabatta, dinner rolls, focaccia, and homemade pizza. This is not the round kind of pizza Americans would typically expect, it's made on a sheet tray, but it's common in Italy, and vey quick and portable for lunch. The bakery also makes fresh pastries, cakes, cookies, and so much more. I would highly recommend to everyone who goes to Mazzaro's to try their biscotti. It is the best I have had EVER. In the world. It is the perfect texture, not too sweet, and comes in many varieties. My favorite is the Anise biscotti, though I understand it's an acquired taste. The biscotti is dairy-free (rejoice!) for any lactose-intolerant friends. And there is one Gluten-Free item, a chocolate... bomb? Chocolate thing. It's all chocolate. I remember it being great, just not what it's called. Canoli's are delicious, lots of cinnamon in the pastry shell, though not freshly filled. My husband has ordered a few of their non-Italian items, cupcakes, scones. All have been edible, but I give you this advice- you're in an ITALIAN market. They're good at what they know, stick to the specialties. - a deli and fresh pasta counter, where you can get as little or as much fine sliced meat as you like, and fresh homemade pastas in many varieties. - a sandwich counter, where you can order one of their menu staples, a daily special panini or soup, or some by the pound house-made salads and prepared foods. For those in a hurry there is also a fridge here with packaged selections. The sandwiches are always so fresh, stuffed full, and a fabulous value for lunch or an early dinner ($5 for Italian Turkey sub? Yes please.) They are also very patient with my "customizations" ie. adding extra Italian Slaw to ALL THINGS. - a fresh produce area, stocked full of all the staples and then some. Prices are competitive, and it is totally feasible to do your regular shop here. - a coffee bar where you can pour your own freshly brewed java to go, or pickup some of their roasted beans in many flavors and varieties. - a grocery/market area, full of many specialty items, as well as stocking the standards, and some small italian appliances like Bialetti coffee pots and their replacement parts. Highly recommended: Buy your olive oil here. Mazzaro's has a special house blend that is incredibly delicious and affordable. We had a chance to speak with the merchant who sources it and they worked for a while to get the right flavor. It is an amazing value, and the best tasting oil I've purchased in the states. - a Meat and fish counter that stocks an impressive selection, with knowledgeable butchers. Notice a trend of the words "fresh" "homemade" and "specialty"? Mazzaro's is doing it right across the board by stocking high quality products, and using those to prepare spectacular food in house, from scratch, using traditional recipes and methods. Mazzaro's is NOT A RESTAURANT. The other day I was having lunch, a lady and her friend walk up to the bar and ask "is this where I order?" The barista said he could offer espresso drinks and they could sit there to eat/drink anything from the store, but sandwiches had to be ordered and picked up at the sandwich counter. The woman scowled rudely and walked away. ??? The place packs a lot in, but it is easily laid out and by no means a warehouse. The sandwich counter is maybe 20 ft. from the bar. Maybe she was expecting a full service, sit down meal? It's not complicated- pickup your stuff and ENJOY. Mazzaro's is the greatest.

Love this place! I had to tour the whole place before making my decision- so much to take in. I wound up with an Italian sandwich that was huge and over stuffed with boars head meat. I took home them beef manicotti with the tomato rosa sauce for dinner. It was delicious! Tasted very homemade and authentic. Can't wait to go back!!

This place is so amazing, I went twice in one day for lunch and dinner. There is so much here that I don't even know where to start. This was my first experience here so I tried a few different things. Their homemade bolognese was excellent as well was their salami. For lunch, I went with the meatball sub and I couldn't believe how big it was for just 5 bucks. It made me wonder why people eat at Subway. I am really looking forward to going back and trying more deli items and some homemade pastas. I thought the prices were right on par for the quality of food they serve and even their grocery items were fairly priced. This is a great place for anyone in the Tampa Bay area to visit.

Not sure how I haven't reviewed Mazzaro's before, but it's a Jersey fat girl's wet dream. I have never had one bad thing from here (and believe me, I've tried almost all of it). Let me highlight some of my favorites: - Coffee (any and all of it - I try to pick the flavored coffees while I shop) - Wine (the Repasos and Amarones are to die for) - Cheese (I think every cheese I have sampled there, I have brought home with me. They also make their own fresh mozzarella...) - Fresh pasta (manacotti & ravioli are amazing - especially pumpkin ravioli with the fig sage sauce) - Sauces (holy cow, from vodka to puttanesca to pesto, they are all delicious) - Bruschetta (I don't like capers, but they definitely work in here) - Shepherd's Pie (yes, you read that correctly - by the deli counter to the left) - Spaghetti Pie (in the deli case) - Pizza (you can eat it there or take a refrigerated pie to bake at home - I usually do both) - Bread (Pugliese - OMG) - Desserts & gelato (cannoli, caramel pretzel brownie, pignoli cookies, cakes...wow) Anyway, trust me on this place (especially if you miss you Grandmother's cooking from up north). They are only open M-F 9-6 and Saturday 9-2, but make the trip - it's worth it!

Love love love this place. Would be 5 stars, but the desert counter is just ok. Everything looks utterly amazing, but only a handful are good. Stay away from the chocolatey deserts and stick to the traditional Italian ones-tiramisu, Napoleon, etc. can't go wrong with those. The cheese section is phenomenal . Tons of choices. The fresh mozzarella is awesome and so is the Christmas provolone. Wait ûntil you smell it-so strong! The meat counter is great! I do not like hamburgers, but looooove ones made from the ground beef here. Everything is so fresh! The prepared food counter is just ok, the rice balls are food. I know some reviewers say the prices are high, but I think they are comparable to publix and there is no way publix carries the selection and quality Mazzaros does. Italian lovers delight!

O sole mio, torna a Mazzaro's! I've spent a lot of time in Italy and now I don't have to...I can just get my fix in STP. Between the fresh butcher shop and the deli, the olive oils, cheese, etc. This is the perfect place to go for high quality appetizer/antipasti. We were there for the Elite event so I got a supersized version of what Mazzaro's can do, but I can't wait to return for picnic fixins. Their prices were more comparable to Publix than to a specialty shop and that is very impressive. Their cheese and oil people really know what they're doing and will help you make good choices based on your tastes and budget. Spend some time here...spend some money here...and don't forget to grab an ice cream tartufo from the frozen food section right behind the checkout counter. They are about $4 and worth every last calorie. I can't wait to go back on a really regular basis. It's the kind of place where you can get to know the guy behind the counter and they will remember what you like/didn't like and be excited to serve you. It's no wonder they've been around so long.

If a friend asked me, whats the one place I need to go to in St. Pete, my answer would be Mazzaro's market. The quality of the food, the wine selection, the availability of high quality food that you cant find anywhere else in town all make Mazzaro's a must see when in town. As a side note, I actually considered having this place cater my wedding! I will focus my review on the deli, although, as the other reviewers, Mazzaro's has a much wider selection than just the deli. I always order the same thing when i go here, Hot Italian sandwich, no peppers. When you open up the Italian sandwich you will immediately notice two things: (1) that it is oozing with italian dressing, and (2) that it is huge. The quality of the meats and bread are both very high. The end result is a unique delicious sandwich that is unlike anything else that you can get in town. Call ahead for quicker service because this place does get busy! Finally, i always order a Mexican coke (made with real sugar) here, which is a nice touch that you cant find everywhere in town. Its all of the little things like this that make Mazzaro's something special. As a side note: Mazzaro's is uniquely placed on an industrial street that the building looks more gaudy than the real housewives of new jersey.

Great time! Met a friend here a few weeks ago and we sat up at the coffee bar drinking coffee and talking about Socrates, Shakespeare, History, and so many other academic topics. I was his teaching assistant, but he has been a poetry professor for many years. We had a wonderful time, we talked for hours. I felt like I had gotten lost in Italy. Then we wandered over to the wine and cheese tasting. It was a grand time. Truly splendid! This place has some unique and wonderful items for sale. It has all sorts of fresh food, from meet, to pasta, to cheese, to vegetables. Just to warn everyone, it does get very crowded. My fiancee is not a big fan because of how crowded it gets. She is a bit claustrophobic sometimes. Nevertheless, this place has such a cool feel to it, it is a great place to meet for a cup of coffee. So much better than a commercial Starbucks. If you like to cook with good fresh ingredients, this place is a must. The food costs a bit more, but you can taste the excellence afterwards! If you are in the area, this is a place you must check out at least once! OH YEAH I ALMOST FORGOT! THEY HAVE THE BEST CANOLIS IN AMERICA!!!!! (At least that I have ever found). And my fiancee loves canolis, so after spending 3 hours talking about Socrates and Shakespeare, I had to bring her a couple home to get back on her good side!

Italian Market, Deli, and Wine. All under one roof! This place is has it all. I personally don't shop for Italian groceries, but I do check out their wine and cheese selection every so often. I, actually, just found out they do wine and cheese tastings every week on Fridays and Saturdays. The place does get SUPER crowded on Saturdays around lunch time. My friend and I strolled in to check out some wine. We ended up staying for lunch. It was quite a maze trying to maneuver around the masses to get in line for food. That should speak for the popularity of this gem. I ended up settling for a cold wrap so I didn't have to battle even more lines. We took our bottle of wine outside on the patio and had ourselves a nice lunch. This place is definitely worth your while to hang out for a little. My friend was so delighted I brought her here. I suggest you do the same.

This is probably the best Italian market you'll find in a town that isn't run by the Mafia (to the best of my knowledge, St. Pete is not in fact run by the Mafia, though whenever I drive by the "Sons of Italy Plaza" I wonder). And I want to state that, before anyone starts sizing me up for some concrete galoshes or performs any additional preparations as prelude for a stereotypical gangsterland hit, that I love towns that are run by the Mafia; they have the best restaurants. You just have to tip well and keep your head down. Anyway, Mazzaro's. Chances are that you don't need to be introduced to Mazzaro's, because if you know anyone from St. Pete they will have already introduced you to it, or it will have introduced itself to you because you're driving along 22nd and wonder what on earth an Italian market is doing amidst all the warehouses and carpet stores, and why everyone seems so keen to get there. Trouble with Mazzaro's is that everyone treats it like a sandwich counter, when in fact it is so much more (ironically, their sandwiches are probably around a B+ on the Great Sandwich Chain of Being, definitely worth getting, but only one of them has ever really blown my doors off, and that was a Sandwich of the Week and may never return--and it's Boar's Head, which I can get at Publix). The real treasures are at the meat counter, the bakery, the coffee bar, and the pasta enclave. This is where they make stuff fresh, and for the most part it's goooood. But lord a'mercy, everyone's hooked on that sandwich counter. It's a war-zone, I tells ya. For my money, you'd be better off cobbling together a lunch from the salami case, the olive bar, the cheese room, and the bakery. Their fresh mozzarella is nice, and I suffer from a terrible debilitating addiction to the hot soppressata that they import from Jersey, for which I am currently going through a 12-step program (for those who are interested: they give you salami on the first day, pepperoni on the second, and gradually work you up to a sort of flavorless emulsified bologna on the 12th, at which point you never want to look at sausages again). So anyway, the whole point of this review: Mazzaro's is great, but if you just get sandwiches there, you are only experiencing 17% of the optimal amount of joy you can derive from it.

Mazzaro's Italian Market is a HUGE warehouse-style building full of shelves and display cases crammed with Italian goodies. Where else in the Tampa Bay area can you find such a huge selection of Italian groceries and treats? You won't find a better selection of salamis, prosciutto, olives, olive oils, fresh pasta and Italian pastries anywhere else. We went home with salami, fresh raviolis, spicy sausage marinara sauce, bread, Italian soda and wine. I wish we had bought more! I would recommend visiting on a week day instead of the weekend. We went on a Saturday afternoon and barely found a parking spot. Once we entered the building we were pushed and shoved from room to room like lost cattle. We were hoping to sit at the coffee bar and have some lunch, but there was no available seating so we will have to visit again soon when the store is not so busy. I did not spend too much time in the cheese area because someone had just opened a very aromatic (stinky) cheese. The wines are conveniently next to the cheese counter. I noticed the wines are not only from Italy, but were also different parts of the world so you could find a cheap Australian Chardonnay or a fancy French Bordeaux amongst the large selection of wines. The deli counter and the pastry counter were PACKED. The place was like a zoo!!! The butcher was calling numbers and carts were being shoved back and forth. I gave up on my cannoli (I will be back to try!) and purchased some fresh ravioli instead. If you like Italian food you must visit Mazzaro's!

So you know you are pulling up to a good place when there is someone directing traffic to park. Outstanding selection of product. Fresh and authentic tasting. Swing by for a great sandwich, bottle of wine, meat, cheese, or just to experience a little piece of Italy in sunny Florida.

Let me start by saying that I'm extremely jealous that is located in St Pete and not in Tampa. I would come here everyday if I lived closer. When I first arrived the small parking lot was full and I thought we may have to do this another day but as I drive I realized there was a big parking area next door. Once you walk inside you can immediately see why this place is so fantastic ... It has a little bit of everything. There is a "grocery" section with a lot of items that you don't find at your regular grocery store, a extensive wine area, cheese, fresh pasta, desserts, ready to go meals , to order sandwiches and an outside area to eat . If you go during lunch time be prepared to wait, it gets packed including the seating area. Great store wish we had more like this in the area.

This place is a culinary playground. If you want fresh sausages, obscure cheeses, flavored olive oils, incredible pastries, interesting kitchen gadgets, fresh pastas, life changing sandwiches, in addition to all of your Italian staples, then this is the place for you. Oh.... yeah.... the wine.....(please read sarcastically) Seems like it's not worth it to even mention.. If you like the option of EVERY TYPE OF WINE ON EARTH AT GREAT PRICES then I would check this place out. Be careful not to trip over the Half Ton Provolone hanging from the ceiling.

I just love this place. A full butcher shop a full wine and cheese shop a bakery a coffee bar fresh made pastas and fresh made entres and deserts. And I haven't even mentioned the groceries. Just . . . Dang. Ok a few things: Crowded on Saturday and closed on Sunday so go during the week if you can. Even on Saturday there is plenty of parking you just might have to walk a little Go on Friday and have the Friday fish sandwich it's really good. The line at the food counter is long at peak times you can save some time by calling your order in. It's not just a coffee bar, they roast their own coffee and have awesome reasonably priced whole bean coffee. They also have self service coffee usually a flavored blend a non flavored blend and a decaf. The grocery section has been steadily improving their chocolate selection it's quite good. The bread . . . the BREAD They have a great selection of olive oils in the grocery area. I'm can't think of anything they don't do well or anything I wish they had that they don't so hence 5 stars. Just go and explore it's that kind of place.

I have never met a person that does not like Italian food. Whether the person is American, Greek, or Korean- everyone loves the stuff! Mazzaro's is dubbed, "The Italian Disney World" for a reason. And, if you have ever attempted to shop here on the weekend you will see it's just as mobbed as Disney World. The first time we tried to visit, there were employees directing traffic and absolutely nowhere to park. I feel bad for the people that live around this place, their driveways must be slammed with stranger's cars. We were not able to even enter the building. The second time, we arrived as soon as the doors opened and a line was already forming outside at that point. The space is like an extanded warehouse, where they continued to add room after room like a maze--- Haunted Italian Food House? While there are some grocery items at Mazzaro's Market, they mainly bank on prepared food and deli items. Their food is nothing short of mind-blowing, if you are into Italian food. The first time I tried a rice ball was here, and it was fairly fantastic. If there is seating, you can eat on the patio. The bottled drink selection is ideal, mostly because of the Orangina. The Coffee Bar is slammed, good luck trying to sit there. It's totally not going to happen... So don't get your hopes up. I come here for the freshly made raw pastas like Gorgonzola Pillows, Ravioli, and Gnocchi (that cook up as light as a feather). The pastries are nice, but the pizza leaves more to be desired.

Every town should have an Italian market like Mazzaro's. This was quite a first time experience. Ordering sandwiches was like trading stocks on the floor of the NYSE. Friendly service to a packed house. I can't even begin to explain the the varieties of food available at Mazzaro's. Just an awesome experience and great food at reasonable prices and friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

A local institution that has definitely earned its place. The layout is haphazard which makes navigating through a crowd difficult but each room has something special to blow your paycheck on. There's a substantial cheese selection, plenty of fresh and high quality bagged pasta, sauces, enough olive oil to choke a horse, and a wide offering of pre-made food for the lazy. For a bonus there's a bakery that offers cannolis that require at least two cups of coffee to survive.

Mazzaro's sells fake Italian salami, and fake Italian cheese. Packaged to look authentic, but all fake. I get the same stuff in Central Texas. If you don't believe me here's a site that sells fake salami made to look like the real thing. floracal.com/Salami . They also sell fake "dry-aged" beef, void of actual dry-aged flavor and tenderness. They might have let it dry out in the fridge, but it wasn't the real dry-age they try to pass it off as. You know, the one that develops the crust on the outside which needs to be cut off. Just a fake place that's designed to look authentic. Even the espresso I had was Kawha, the big commercial supplier. You'd think they could at least serve and support a small batch roaster. Whatever, most people think this is as good as it gets, maybe they'll never know what the real stuff is. Mazzaro's is a perfect example of America's dishonest fake food industry. Italy is getting fake too, don't get me wrong. Even the small farmers, cheese makers, and butchers are complaining of this fake stuff putting them out of business.

Mazzaro's continuously delivers top service and quality. I love how busy the deli counter can get - almost resembles a stock trade between customers pulling numbers and employees shouting out names of sandwiches, customers' numbers, etc. The Seared Ahi Tuna sandwich is unbelievable. The price point is crazy low (always good, I guess), and the quality is surprisingly high. Best part of all is the addition of ginger and a wasabi mayo/aioli atop fresh soft Italian bread. My boyfriend ordered the Hot Italian which he raved about for days - also seems to be a popular menu pick. I also recently solved my long lasting hunt for ciabatta bread. I bought a loaf for 3.- which I think is really reasonable considering how fresh it is. I then bought their homemade pesto (truly unspeakable), and imported prosciutto. Went home and made an open faced sandwich with all above ingredients, added some espresso crusted parmesan and arugula, and fell into the hands of heaven at first bite. Fresh, flavorful, and easy. I can't speak highly enough of this place. I just wish it was closer to me!

I was not impressed, too me it was more like a preppy local market for the wannabe Italians. My family lives an hour or so North from there, so they figured it would be a treat.... Nah! The prices on a lot of the items were an arm and a leg.... I told my folks listen... you want the stuff, I'll ship it to you. Oh and by the way... I was checking out some items in one the of the isles, as I walked passed this women I had said "mi scusi" to be polite it means excuse me in Italian, what the hell I figured I was in a supposedly in an Italian market; wanted to bring some Italia to the place; she mutters under her breath "asshole" I just wanted to add one thing to this review. The women in question was what you call an arrogant snob and I politely said to her and I quote "It's a shame that we as Americans treat one another in such a way" she blushed and turned away. This ones for you Georgia Peach! Spent time there while keeping A-Holes like you free! I fly down there on a charter, not like regular bozo's like you. My brother picks me up on the tarmac in Tampa Airport, he has a Limo Business in FLA.. nice to have $$$$$. I will be sure to review a local place, maybe we can catch up. Ciao

I love this fabulous place! The best of all Italian worlds converged into one spot. It's the perfect place to shop for Italian food. Be prepared on the weekend to walk among throngs of people. It's a hugely popular place and most people are shopping on the weekends. I've been there week day mornings and the shopping is fine. I love it for all things Italian. For me, it's the perfect place to come SHOP when I'm making a special dinner. The specialty meats: veal, kobe beef, sausages, fish....amazing. There's also a deli to get all sort of meats and pastas and cheeses. You can also order a sandwich here which I would recommend to get TO GO! I love the shelves and shelves of different dried goods and pastas and all the little extras like wasabi edamame and european chocolates. Just fun clever stuff conveniently located under one roof. A great place to stock your pantry. Also worth a perusal is the wine shop off to the side. Honestly, and especially during the weekends, this is not the place to regard as a restaurant. Anyone walking in the front door should get that at first glance. This is a busy market. It's not a restaurant. I did read through some of the reviews at the people downgrading this place because of their restaurant experience. You want a restaurant? Go to Olive Garden. You want authentic, quality Italian foods and cooking condiments, THIS IS THE MARKET FOR YOU! Highly recommend!

A deli and market with a large variety of imported Italian foods, wine, meat, fresh pasta, produce, coffee counter, bakery, and gelato. The sandwich / deli counter can get crazy busy...make sure to take a number and don't be shy about speaking up (pretend you are in NYC). Sandwiches are large and good. Buying things can get complicated. Last time I was told I'd have to pay separately for my gelato and coffee. You can't pay for your groceries along with your sandwich if you plan to eat it on the covered dining patio. This is all more complicated than it needs to be. Interesting and sometimes fun place.

I you live in tampa bay and have never been to Mazzaro's you are missing out! I have been hearing st Pete folks rave about this place for years and I finally made it there today. From the start, you know the place is happening. The parking lot is crazy busy, just go and park in the back street and avoid the head ache of parking. This place is a mini Italian market, deli, bakery, cheese and wine shop, coffee shop all in one and everything is top notch. In the wine/cheese room, you are able to sample their wide selection of cheeses. The bakery is packed, get a number and then debate as to which desserts you'll pick. The deli section has a wide range of meats, pastas, and side dishes for you to take home and heat up. Deli also has a wide selection of cold and hot sandwiches. They will also heat up any deli item or pizza for you to eat at their patio. I had the caprese sandwich: fresh mozzarella, tomatoe, basil, and pesto sauce on a pressed Italian bread. Simple but amazing. For dessert had chocolate decandence, a rich, fudge like cake. Simply put, if you haven't already, you need to visit Mazzaro's!

Very nice and conveniently located in st.Pete. Parking may be a little confusing but you should figure out in the first min or so. I really liked the cheese room and the wine cellar was nice too. This place is so far away from conventional markets its why people like it so much. From the specail imported products to the butcher block you wont be disappointed. My wife really likes the deserts and pasta's. Its hard for us to visit all the time but when ever were up that way we would like to try and stop again.

I just came from mazzaros , bought meats which are the best cuts around. Visited the gift shop where I could have spent the day . They have amazing things. Finished the trip with a delicious lunch , their sandwiches are the best. Filled with what ever you want and can't beat the prices.. Wish they would open in Connecticut ... This is one of my favorite stops when I'm in Florida ... Thanks guys for a job well done. You should be on the travel channel...

All in one stop! Great deli, restaurant, coffee, cheeses... whatever is your fancy! I just wish I lived closer then 45 minutes away, or I would be at this place every day. I had gone here for a Yelp Elite night, invited by some awesome friends. Thanks to my wonderful, awesome friends, Amy Moroze, Rachel Hires, and Stephanie Dague, we were able to have a great girls night out. Mazzaros's Italian Market in St. Pete, was so good, great foods, fresh deli and produce. Unbelievable wine selection and cheeses. Tasty 30 month aged Parmasan cheese. Crazy sweet pretzel wrapped in bacon and cotton candy. So much fun tonight, thanks Yelp for a great time.

Today was my 8th visit to Mazarros Market. I drive 45 miles to get there so I don't get to go as often as I'd like...I actually dream of myself living around the corner and having coffee there every morning! My trip to St Pete was actually to visit the new and much HYPED Locale Market. Locale Market is beautiful and it's in a pretty area and the layout of the store is interesting. I saw things I wanted but I thought I could find most of what I saw there somewhere else at a much cheaper price. Long story short,my group decided to go to Mazarros to eat and shop. Im sure Locale does some very nice dishes but Mazarros is MUCH cheaper and really has a WIDER selection of everything. Locales bakery selections (sweets and breads) are very limited compared to Mazarros and the breads at Mazarros are MUCH cheaper. Locale Market is a lovely addition to that area of downtown and I hope they make a go of it...I think there is room for Mazarros AND Locale market but if I'm driving 45 miles I'm going to Mazarros...I love the place. My perfect day: Get to Mazarros about 10:00am...have a cappuccino and nibble on an almond wring at the coffee bar...Get up and explore the store(will take an hour!!) and figure out what you want to buy...walk across the parking lot and check out the gift shop...come back and order a sandwich or something from the deli... THEN go back around the store with your basket and collect the things you want to buy...The cheese room is fabulous, the olive bar is AMAZING and the bakery is packed so full of good stuff you will have a hard time deciding what to buy,the fresh pastas are not to be missed. The produce section is getting better and better and they have some unusual things you wouldn't expect to see there. Weekdays are less crowded so plan accordingly.

This place is amazing! I came here for the first time about 2 weeks ago at the request of my dad wanting me to take him there. We left after he dropped almost $200 there on food/wine/pastries. I've been back 4 times on my own since that day & I live 30+ miles away from them. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food, or just wants some amazing food/pastries. You wont regret it!!!

Excellent Italian market on par with those in the Bronx (they've even managed to recreate the eclectic decor and ambience). Our new go-to place for cheese, wine, and other Italian grocery items.

I like this place more as a local experience than an Italian market. Most cities have an Italian store such as Mazzaro's. Imported sauces, olives, cheeses and meats are sold along with prepared foods and made to order sandwiches. What makes Mazzaro's unique is the hordes of customers. As in every other local place the people are exceptionally polite and patient. At the sandwich counter you take a number and despite the hovering crowd you are amazed when your number is called almost as soon as you dispensed it. But it is only to take your order. You then join the waiting crowd. After a lengthy wait you receive your sub wrapped in butcher paper. Then a wait at one of two cashiers. There are shelves and coolers crammed with anything remotely Italian, a coffee counter, a screened in patio and a few outdoor tables. Those on work lunch hours somehow find a place to eat. On my recent visit I had the Number 2 which is called the Italian anywhere else. Both the soft salami and the provolone were tightly rolled and placed in the middle of the bread. The Italian cole slaw needs vinegar and the tomato and lettuce were hardly noticed. More dressing and the ingredients layered rather than rolled may have improved this sandwich. As it was each mouthful was of too cold provolone and too cold Genoa salami or just bread. The bread is so chewy my jaw got tired and I had to store the sandwich in the refrig for later. Not my favorite sub by any means. At $5 it is really hard to complain. I think the hot sandwiches I have had are much better.

Although the hours are limited and it's an absolute human zoo on Saturdays, there is no denying Mazzaro's awesomeness. The sandwiches are on point and the selection of cheese/cured meats is something to write home about. Just there early!

This place is amazing. I cannot wait to go back again. The staff was so friendly and offered so much advice on what items to try . Definitely try this place if you are in the area.

LOVE this place. Best cheese counter in the Tampa Bay - by far!! Their meat is out of this world. Dry aged bone in ribeye, marinated duck breast, Kobe hot dogs are the best hot dogs I have ever had, everything is top notch. I do most of my grocery shopping here. $5 sandwiches are amazing!!!! I love their biscotti! Take home pizzas are dynamite as are their fresh pastas. Sure on Saturday it is a mad house once you get the lay of the land you can get in and out of there. Their catering does a great job as well. Can't say enough good things about this place!

Their bakery section is the best. Lots of good things to eat at the hot area. As for the deli, everyone has Boarshead meat...even publix. So really the only thing special is the bakery.

Overall, I adore Mazzaro's. They pack an astounding selection of Italian specialties into a tiny store. Here's what I LOVE: Their sandwiches are huge, delicious, and CHEAP. You can easily eat just half of one and be full, but they are only 5 bucks! They only use high quality italian cured meats or Boar's Head - it's cheaper than a Publix sub, but they have real bread and it's a far superior sandwich. Their sweet baked goods are wonderful, especially the big cookies, mini-pies, and the muffin of the day - they are all delicious and to die for. If I ever decide I am ok with diabetes, I will probably just jump over the counter, open the bakery cases, and commence my delicious self-destruction. Their produce selection is small, but that's because they refuse to carry even one sub-par piece of fruit or vegetable. If you buy it here, it will be good. If you love baby spinach and arugula, this is the best and cheapest place to buy it. They also have a great rotating selection of exotic mushrooms (far cheaper than whole foods). Their butcher meats are high quality - and it is fairly inexpensive - you will not find meat of this quality at a better price anywhere (it is not organic or natural though; that's another category entirely). They carry a great selection of Italian cured meats in their deli and in the refrigerated case and these are also priced very well in comparison to other specialty markets. Do you love pasta? Mazzaro's makes it fresh by hand every day, so you can buy homemade pasta and an excellent homemade sauce here and cook it at home and it will be better than what you'll get at most local Italian eateries. The handmade pasta is delicious and I must have it in order to make chicken noodle soup, or if I'm making sauce at home. I will say that the raviolis and tortellini here are very good but that the Ravioli Company in Tampa is superior for filled pastas. Their beer and wine selection is great and they have a very respectable cheese selection. Even their selection of canned and jarred foods are impressive - particularly their VERY well curated selection of tomatoes! You'll find all varieties and treatments of conventional and organic San Marzano tomatoes here at the same or better prices than Whole Foods, Publix, Fresh Market or Rollin' Oats. They roast and flavor their own coffee and if you like flavored coffee, you will not find better beans anywhere in the area, though if you want locally roasted regular coffee beans I think the Ybor Gold beans at Angie's Market Cafe are better. Their home-baked Italian breads are phenomenal, though if you want wheat or multigrain bread, I'd again recommend Angie's over theirs. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and a joy to be around, though the older lady cashiers up front are usually pretty sour. Sour checkout people or not, Mazzaro's is a great little market and I have to come here at least once a week for groceries and a treat!

Wow. This place is EPIC. The grilled caprese sandwhich was one of the best sandwhiches I have ever had in my life. And the espresso they roast on site was like rich dark chocolate. It was very busy, even in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon, and I can see why! I feel so blessed to live within biking distance of this place! Produce prices were actually cheaper than Publix, and so much of what they offer is hand made from scratch on site. This is largely a market, with many prepared food items to take home. But they also have a deli (hence the sandwhich) a bakery, a wine and cheese room. This place is truly a treasure. Bring your patience with you and it will be worth it!!!

Had heard great things about Mazzaro's and I can now attest, it is awesome. Amazing, huge market...I had a delicious caprese panini (added prosciutto, duh.) The pistachio gelato is to die for. I keep dreaming about it, 3 days later...can't wait to go back and get more. On Saturdays they close at 2:30pm, and... it's a bit of a zoo -- very crowded and everyone's rushing to get their items and a table...but I think that's all part of the Mazzaro's experience. I wish I lived closer to this place and I can't wait to go back!

Can't believe I have lived so close to this place and not gained 500 pounds. LOVE their coffee, pastries, and sandwiches made to order. Fun to eat outside at picnic tables after ordering lunch. I take all my out-of-town guests here. Only four starts because I wish they were open later on Saturdays or open on Sundays period--so many times have wanted to bring people here but can't because of limited week-end hours.

WOW, what a deli! I never expected to find an Italian market and deli on a nondescript street in St. Pete's. This place has it all. friendly staff, great bakery, great deli, olive bar, wine and cheese room, patio eating area. I haven't seen any Italian deli this big and well stocked in North Beach (San Francisco) or Little Italy (New York). Oh, and by the way they have a coffee bar where they serve coffee that they roast!

I enjoyed this place while working in the Tampa area. It is a simply amazing restaurant & store. I wish we had one back home.

Mazzaro's is awesome! I think the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's slightly disorganized for the amount of traffic it gets. But they have so much here to love! So many fresh deli treats- sandwiches, pastas, salads, sides. There is also a nice selection of Italian meals to take home and and heat up- lasagna, baked ziti, large pizzas. They have an amazing wine and cheese room with tastings- I just wish I was a little more of a connoisseur. They also have a nice craft beer selection, fresh coffee and gelato- like I said, there's a lot. I was probably there at the busiest time- noon on a Saturday. The deli and checkout lines didn't take long, there were just a ton of people to navigate through and we ended up leaving to enjoy our food because there were people everywhere and it was a hassle to try to work through the crowds and find a place to relax. This was fine since I wanted to get all my delicious treats home anyways. I will definitely be back!

Only the best kept secret in the west side of Tampa Bay...! Excellent line of primo Italian goods....! Great foods to eat-in or take-out and a wonderful wait/serving staff..!

People drive for hours to get to this unique Italian grocery, bakery and deli. I am one of them. Every time I am in the Tampa/St. Pete Bay area, I make a point to bring an ice chest and visit Mazzaro's. My favoirte routine is to order an Itallian sub (only $5!), and pick up a dessert from the bakery and drink from the cooler and go out to the patio and enjoy. Then, I buy cannolli shells, a bag of cannolli filling, frozen lasagne and take it home to a very grateful family. You could browse for an hour or more. Has the best selection of cheese and wines in the area and unique cooking gifts.

Finally, I had a reason to return! I needed a great lunch place to take 2 older females - unfortunately I didn't know my 'way' around the place but around lunch time the place is packed with very impatient and yet very friendly people all waiting their turn in line for lunch foods... When we finally sat down to eat, the food was phenomenal. Later they wanted to browse the store and without sharing my previous experience with the wine, they decided everything was very pricey !!

I just had the best sausage lasagna I think I have ever tasted. My wife and I were totally thinking we were going to experience the usual pre-prepared type of dish. NOT SO! it was awesome. The rest iof the store has always been fantastic with great deli and meat market and also great cheese and wine.

The best Italian market outside of NYC! We are so lucky to have this store in St. Petersburg. Everything they have is fantastic. The bakery, deli, pasta, butcher etc. the best!

  • Emily S.

This market is amazing. When you step inside it feels as though you've made the trip to Italy. The wine & cheese selections are very nice and the produce & meat/seafood sections are first rate. The bakery is so good you truly can't find better in the US outside of Little Italy in NYC (or some of the Italian grandmother's kitchens who still remember what it is to make fresh canoli and biscottis.) The coffee is also very very tasty. If you stop by for lunch do not be scared off by the many people standing in lines all over the store waiting for their freshly made Italian sandwiches & paninis. You can't go wrong with the choice of the week!

A great italian market. Lots to chooose from. Hard to find items are no issue here. It gets very crowded on the weekends so we go off hours. Meats and cheeses are always fresh and they have a nice slection of sauces and olvies you won't find anywhere else. You gotta try this place

This place is amazing. Though it's out of the way, it appears to be packed almost all the time. There's a valet keeping an eye on the parking lot, for pete's sake. I'm fairly sure the only vegan items in the store are some of the coffees, beers and wines, but the selection's real good, so check it out... after you get paid or something.

I'm visiting here from the San Francisco Bay Area. I wanted to buy some fresh fish and checked out their website in advance, which showed they had a much greater selection of seafood then they actually have. The guys at the meat and fish counter were very nice and very helpful. WAY TOO expensive for what they offer. Unique place with a fabulous dessert market, wine and cheese market and other fine Italian food choices. I had a difficult time finding this place and once I did, the parking was very limited. I wouldn't shop here again. I think I'm just spoiled with the better selections and choice I have at home. Not to mention, the less expensive prices.

Agreeing with many others, the pasta is delicious! It is the highlight of Mazzaro's. Tried several of the breads and they were less than stellar. Surprisingly enough to us, the pizza was terrible. What a disappointment. The topping was good. The dough, like the problem we had with their bread, is so tough it was inedible. We cut the wide crust off the full size pizza and ate the middle (as this was our only lunch available) We've tried many of the bakery items, and nothing has been a stand out. Overly sweet without much individual flavor. Save yourself time and $$$, run in for some pasta and head on out... Oh grab an espresso too! Find better Italian elsewhere in Tampa Bay area! Edited 11/23- Was in the neighborhood and ran in for a few things for convenience. WTH, the PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS. I'm glad to see that others have the income to shop here. I'm still working, but I'm not going to waste $$$$ here either.

Fantastico! Excellent market and if you're a fan of Italian, this is a must do in St Petersburg. Its also (pretty much) the best bread you'll find in the Tampa Bay Area as well. The produce, meats, wines, cheeses, bread, pasta, all are excellent as are the imports. Check this place out!

What a great Italian market and deli! Fresh mozzarella, fresh pasta, fresh coffee, fresh bread, freshly prepared deli items. This place should be called the Fresh Market! It can be a zoo but if you can manage to go early on a weekday morning, it's a real treat. I love sampling the cheeses and wines. it's hard to pick which fresh pasta to buy but I always manage. The freshly baked bread is probably some of the best you'll get in this area. Can't wait to go back!

This place is a gem! But too bad its so crowded on Saturdays. Need to go during the week, but worth the trip. Going to take family when they come to visit on vacation :)

Really one of my favorite places in St. Pete, it almost feels like a mini vacation when I go. I have seen quite a few people complaining about prices, I can understand that however the items that are expensive (certain cuts of meat, specialty items) are worth that much money. It does not get a whole lot better for lunch, although it gets crowded, their subs are massive and packed full of quality meat, plus they are $5. Easily their best value. Their wine selection is exceptional and usually have bottles open for tasting. On Saturday their wine tasting is a little more extensive than during the weekdays and employees are fairly knowledgeable. Their desserts: pastries, gelato, and cakes are all very good. Nothing I have gotten there has ever been bad, I will go far out of my way to buy food from Mazzaro's because I know it is second to none.

It is a fun place and nice enough for all kinds of small things, but if you have a problem, its just too bad. If you get a fruit salad for guests and its so full of ginger that its unedible (why would any one even add ginger to fruit salad) it is too bad, and just "a matter of personal taste" (even though every guest that put it in their mouth spit it out). I've spent hundreds of dollars through the catering department, but if something is wrong, too darn bad, your problem, not theirs.

I cannot express how much I appreciated this establishment. We went in for a sandwich but we were sucked in by all the yummy goodness. They have EVERYTHING! Special beef, special sausages, fresh cheese, rare cheese, great beer and wine selection, huge selection of fresh breads and cookies, made to order pasta, an amazing coffee bar, olive bar, etc. I mean they have everything. We did get our sandwich. 6.99 for a wasabi tuna sandwich. It was huge and perfect. My wife's exact words were, "This is the best sandwich I've ever had." Everything about the place is five stars.

Brings me back to Harlem Ave. in Chicago when i was a little girl visiting the local Italian store and pasta house to stock up on supplies for a cousin's birthday or perhaps a wedding shower. Mazzaro's has different sections to it, and each section is just as important as the next. They have a dessert counter with fresh homemade cannoli's, and lots of other little desserts. The deli counter had meats, sandwiches, premade lasagna, etc. The winery is stocked to the brim, looks like you walked into the Soprano's wine cellar. There is another grocery section and then they have outdoor covered seating for you to enjoy your lunch and a fizzy drink. Totally wouldn't expect it to be there, but happy it is! I took my mom there and we had a great time discovering all it has to offer.

Mazzaro's has it all. We spent a few early afternoon hours at the Dali Museum . If you go to this museum be sure to go with a docent led tour that will help put some understanding of the incredible Dali. On our way back home, we stopped at Mazzaros which was our very first time at this deli/market. We sat at the coffee bar and enjoyed two wonderful deli sandwiches with wonderful coffee. Do this first and then do your shopping. It is near impossible to not put something into your cart. This place is a must for an experience of great delights. A definite 5 stars !

This place is AWESOME! The only bad thing is they aren't open very much. I feel like whenver I need them (evenings) they are closed. But the precooked food is amazing and you could totally pass off as your own!

My buddy and I were in St. Pete for the weekend and decided to stop by here after reading great reviews on Yelp. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. We walked in and were greeted by an aura of warmth, invitation, and the odor of fish. Not my favorite, and I wondered why they chose to put the strongest-smelling counter right at the front, but onward we went. We headed to the deli counter where they had sandwiches and loads of sides. There were so many options, and a lot of things I wanted to try. I ended up ordering a muffaletta sandwich and a side of sesame pasta salad, and shared the fried calamari with my friend. I was immediately surprised at how heavy the sandwich was. It wasn't particularly big, probably about 6-8 inches, but it was stuffed with generous amounts of meat and thickly sliced mozzarella cheese. For only $5, this is a great deal. Each sandwich also comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, italian dressing, and slaw. The one I ordered also included an olive salad on top, which was delicious. Onto the food itself: The sandwich was extremely tasty. I loved all the toppings, particularly the olive salad, and the bread was also very very good. The pasta salad I ordered was also great, it had loads of flavor without being too oily, which is a complaint I have about a lot of pasta salads. The calamari was awesome. It had a very fishy taste, but not at all in a bad way, if that makes any sense. One final note: For any craft beer enthusiasts like myself, you will be very pleased when you come here. My buddy and I were giddy over some of the selections they had in the fridge, all reasonably priced as well. $1.75 for a Brooklyn Lager? Yes please. Overall a great experience. I would like to try a lot of the other items they had, and I didn't explore too much of the store besides the meat counter and the beer fridge. Would recommend!

Multiple people recommended this place to me, and I was in amazement at how awesome it is! Real authentic Italian foods! Some items are a little expensive, but WORTH IT! Great atmosphere! Friendly, helpful people! We went multiple times in the one week we were in town and were never disappointed! Great pastrys, and authentic lunch and dinner meals! This is a must visit location!!

This market is amazing!!! Truly the best. Reminds me of Italian markets from NY, but 5 times as large. Has everything things you need under one roof. The best bakery, deli, butcher, fresh pasta and prepared food. Very, very busy on Saturday and before the holidays. Get there early.

It is virtually impossible to describe just how INCREDIBLY and OUTRAGEOUSLY GREAT their sandwiches are. While I suggest the 'Hot Italian' I can only imagine all the others are equally mind-blowing. These are served on a really good and genuine Italian bread--crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. That alone would satisfy a northerner's craving. But the way the ingredients are packed to the brim, each a melody of freshness, makes this a 'can't miss' place. Not going here would be a serious mistake! And the prices are amazingly reasonable for what you get. These are several times over better than any sub you can get elsewhere, and generally lower in price than the inferior competition. Not only that, but there is a friendly and cozy coffee bar, a large Italian store with vast options that just don't exist otherwhere, and a well stocked wine selection. You can also buy the wine/beer, and drink it with your meal in the outdoor patio (only complaint is that it is quite hot when the weather is). Mazzaro's deserves to be highlighted on a nationally televised Food or Travel show--its' THAT good. My highest kudos and appreciation to this totally dedicated and classy operation.

about as italian as brookyn itself! this market was bustling with people. it's actually quite large for being a neighborhood market with a good selection of meats, foods, breads, homemade desserts, wine, cheese. whats unique is you can order your food then eat it there or just have a cup of fresh coffee and canoli. seating is a premium. with the large selection of fresh cooked foods, there's something for everyone

Great deli and market. Also fantastic wine and cheese store. Their super large sandwiches are all fresh top quality "Boar's Head" meats. A one-of-a-kind in Tampa Bay. Covered terrace permits on-site eating. Pastries are to die for.

A great place to eat, especially on Friday with the Sammy's Fish Sandwich special! I take all of my out of town guests here for some snack, whether its lunch or just coffee and a pastry. The only negative thing is the actual size of the store/eatery. There is not a lot of room to navigate, and limited seats at peak times of the day. Expect to wait in line or wait for a seat. However, the food makes the wait worthwhile!

Mazaro's is a must-visit. The food at the deli is fresh and excellent, and reasonably priced. After ordering your sandwich and eating it outside, do not miss the desserts and coffee and bar, where you can get delicious gelato. I take myself to shop at the high-end market, full of imports and specialty Italian items, for a treat once in a while. They try their best to bring a bit of the Mediterranean to St. Petersburg and come pretty darn close. I recommend the fried spaghetti pie, which you can order heated and covered with marinara sauce from the deli counter.

Amazing food, cheese, wine, deserts, and coffee! I love the cheese room. And real meat hanging from the ceiling! I've been coming here for years since they were a one room small market. Quite a bit bigger now, but they never fail to please. Always something new to try. Lunchtime can be a bit busy with a long wait, but well worth the time!

Quite frankly this is the best place to shop for anything special in Pinellas County, and possibly Hillsborough. While it is Italian themed you can find cheeses, wines, meats, and spices that are common to cuisines all over Europe. The butchery in the market section is absolutely great and you can find a lot of things like veal, large cuts of lamb, kobe, and occasionally fresh duck, that you can't find at a normal grocer. The food selection is also really awesome, a panino is delicious and reasonably prices. The real focus is the market though. While prices are not very cheap on many things, one exception is spices which are cheaper here for fresh spices than other places you find them in the area. Lastly, the coffee and dessert bar is completely gorgeous! The Cannoli here are some of the best in the area. If you have a foodie guest then this is a wonderful place to bring him/her. You know this place is a local favorite when they can pack it out on a Tuesday at 2 p.m. (and not be all seniors).

This place is amazing. Its a deli, grocery store, restaurant & museum. Its huge. The variety of stuff is dizzying. I have never seen a deli with so much ready made food. I had the crab cake, VG & asparagus. I felt pressured to make a choice wish I had taken my time but its chaotic at the deli counter (at lunch). We also had an Italian sandwich, also very good. i would love to come back again and again and could never scratch the surface of everything thats there.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. It is a foodie's dream come true. A bustling gourmet market with a strong Italian flair, although I have found curries, couscous, and much more. Basically, it is a market with lots of high end specialty ingredients but lots of cheaper stuff too. They have a deli counter where you can buy pre-prepared foods to take home or eat there. There is a coffee bar (they roast their own coffee-sssooooo good). They have expanded a room into a wine cellar with a very good selection of cheeses. And a bakery/gelato counter with sweets to die for. Like buttah!! Also a competent butcher's counter with good looking meats. Our favorite thing to do is Saturday lunch. Be prepared: it is going to be crowded. You will probably have to park in a neighboring lot but their traffic attendant (yes, you read it right) will guide you. Then elbow your way to the deli counter and order a sandwich and a couple sides. Awesome chicken parm. Plenty of sides but regulars in the know order the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes that sells so fast they sometimes don't even put it out front so only the locals know to ask for it. Then, if you have 2 or more in your party, get a coffee or soda and step outside to claim a table. You can pay for your food outside before you sit down. There is authentic Italian-American entertainment, some guy that does passable Sinatra, or sometimes a troupe fresh off the boat who doesn't speak a lick of English but can sing like there is no tomorrow. When lunch is over, head in to the pastries and get something sweet to go- you might need a nap first. I give it points for quality of food, ingredients that you can buy, and the atmosphere for sure.

This place is just amazing. Their selection of foods and products is astounding. It brings me back to the markets of Europe and it's quite impressive. Their cold case was full of salads and olives it made my head spin. I can't wait to go back and grab some salami or lasagna. I had a hot Italian sub and it was heavenly. It was warm and gooey and delicious. I also tried their tiramisu and cannoli and they were at the perfect sweetness and delicious. I can't wait to make it back out to St. Pete to get great Italian food and products.

Mazzaro's market is a sensory overload experience! Walking through feels like being transported to the old country. My favorite room is the cheese room - so many intriguing imports and varieties to taste. To dine in, one can order from the bakery, grab coffee at the bar, or order from the deli-style counter. Typically I will pick up an item from each counter. The ordering is based off a ticket system with options to pay at the market register or out on the dining patio. Lunch time is always crazy - so many people packed together. But the workers are nice and most visitors don't mind the press, it is just a part of the experience. Their food is always amazing - I especially love the sandwiches (I normally grab a cream soda or pop to go with it). Concerning their bakery - I have tried multiple items and they are all presented beautifully. However, I have not be exceedingly impressed with the quality of flavor or texture in many of their pastries and cakes. I must say their bread, which is hand made, is fantastic! Overall, a great experience and must visit in St. Pete.

This place is a treasure chest of Italian goodness. I'm an olive fanatic, and they have an olive bar with more than a dozen different types of olives, sun dried tomatoes, and spiced garlic cloves. The deli section has a large salad section - be sure to try the antipasto salad, it's amazing. Cheese and wine sections are incredible too. Fresh baked bread daily, and pastry to die for - especially the cannoli and Italian cookies.

It's easy to miss as you are driving along 22nd. But look closer and you will see that there a fun and quirky courtyard out front where you can enjoy the fresh food you can get at Mazzaro's. We've been here every trip back to St. Pete and enjoyed sitting at the espresso bar and eating lunch from the deli. Just fair warning, it gets very very busy and crowded especially during lunch time and near the holidays. We attempted to grab lunch near Christmas time and it was impossible with the crowd and long lines. Go during off hours and you won't have to wait as long.

This place has everything to satisfy any type of craving. We usually pick up sandwiches for lunch. Save yourself time and call in your order if you have limited time at lunch. The deli sandwiches are a superb choice. They also have pre-packaged salads, sandwiches, wraps, and dips if you are really in a hurry. Look out for their daily sandwich! There is a whole cheese room with samples, an entire room off delicious cheeses!!! They offer a nice selection of coffee, wine, beer, meat, breads, gelato, and cakes/pastries. You can pretty much find anything here!

Italian Market heaven!! Everything you could possibly want for an Italian foodie experience chances are you will find here. Meats, produce, cheeses & wine from all over the world. There are rare finds & fancy foodie items that you really need to take your time & walk through the aisles to find. This place is huge & they have recently added a kitchen supply & souvenirs shop. There is a deli that is absolutely a must to try & fresh made ravioli to go. There is so much to see, purchase & enjoy that I have never been able to just walk in and walk out with what I came in for. I have found so many new favorites & flavors at Mazzaro's over the years. I love love their coffee bar. They roast their own coffee beans. The cappuccinos are huge and delicious. There is a large variety of fresh baked goods, cookies and cakes available to buy and take home or enjoy while you're having your coffee at the bar. I have to say the only downside for me is some of the baked goods at this place are not as flavorful or delicious as they look. I always get carried away and order some new baked goods & sweets options I haven't tried before & I haven't always been blown away. If you haven't visited yet, do yourself a favor & make the trip this weekend. You won't regret it.

Really nice deli with Coffee bar, Wine room, Cheese room, Domestic & Imported beer cooler, Meats, Seafood, and Italian desserts. We arrived right as the Lunch crowd was starting to dwindle. They also have a cooked section with a lot of traditional Italian dishes. We had already eaten lunch so just came in to see what all the buzz was about. I have however, had a few of the hot dishes catered at a graduation party that I attended last year. We decided to take some dessert home, such as tiramisu, cannoli, and a peanut butter cookie. Tiramisu taste nice and creamy. Cannoli had a very strong flavor in the actual filler. Perhaps it was amaretto. In my opinion it was over powering and didn't taste like the traditional cannoli that I grew up with in Ny. Peanut butter cookie ...well still waiting to see what the Mr. Says because I'm allergic

I love Mazzarro's. Their pastries are to die for. I love the chocolate chip dipped cannolis. The only sandwiches I get though are the grilled caprese and chicken parmesan but they are always excellent. I'm pretty sure everything there is delicious. I haven't tried the coffee bar yet but it's always packed. Mazzaro's is always busy so you better be willing to fight for you food lol.

  • Tracy M.

Mazzarros is one of those places you just can't get out of your head after one visit. It has everything you could want crammed into a lively, chaotic atmosphere- gelato, bakery, deli, veges, meats, wine cellar, cheese room, olive bar, coffee bar, homemade pastas and sauces, and on and on. Just don't get there after 11:30 on a weekday. It's CRAZY busy! Always be prepared to feel like you're a sardine while wandering through the maze that is Mazzaro's but also prepare yourself to fall in love. You'll be back, guaranteed!

I love this place, it makes me think of home and the italian market in south philly! There are great meats, pasta, wine, cheese, coffee, just about everything this italian needs. We even got some HI-larious shirts that say something like "body by gabagool". I will say it's PACKED in there, hopefully we'll think of going earlier in our trip and NOT on a weekend so we can enjoy it a bit more. Oddly, in philly, the italian market has amazing deals on meat, cheese, and veggies, it seems over priced here, but fine by me, i can have a little home on vacation!

  • Alexandra K.

I really do wish that I could transport myself instantaneously to Mazzaro's market every day for fresh fare, however, I live in Ohio! boo. I've been here about once a year for the past three years when I've been in town visiting, and have loved everything I've eaten from here. It is the perfect place to visit and pick up what is needed for a really nice dinner that evening, or stock up on a few key staple items like olives, cheese, bread and cannolis. Wait, did I mention the cannolis? Never had one this good, my favorite are the chocolate chip dipped ones. I also highly recommend anything from the fresh pasta area. The gnocchi is delicious, all raviolis are delicious, and the vodka sauce is to die for! They always have new and interesting items to try each time I am there. If you are a foodie, or just love pasta - you will love Mazzaro's!

  • Derek S.

Really cool market. We had the Hot Italian and it was delicious. We also picked up some nice craft beers a bottle of wine and some nice pasta dishes. We got a pizza that looks delicious as well. The atmosphere is very cool and although it does get a bit busy on Saturdays they have the staff to handle it.

Some guy from some small town in Rhode Island wasn't impressed, but who cares? If we had a Mazzaro's in Loudoun County, Virginia it would be a huge success! While not a "snowbird", whenever I make my annual pilgrimage to St. Pete I make a special effort to shop at Mazzaro's. May 2013 was a "three-Mazzaro's-trips" visit and well worth it! Lobster ravioli was gently hand-packed by the very nice guy behind the counter, a HUGE sandwich was enough for three generous lunches, and the blueberry and cherry cheesecake coffee cake (yes, cheesecake COFFEE CAKE) was divine. In fact, I bought three to bring back home to Virginia. Forget about trying to find a parking place anywhere near Mazzaro's during the Christmas season - and there's a reason for it!

Just a great experience. So close to 5 stars. All the other reviewers have given you the amazing bullet points. The only negatives that prevent the 5th star... the inconvenient weekend hours, the uncomfortably crowded waiting area for your order for lunch, and the fact your food is nuked. That said,it's a great place. If Yelp let me do 4.5 stars, I'd do it.

Good god I love you Mazzaro's. Sandwiches are always awesome, prepped food ready to be taken home, fresh bread, meat, cheese, gelato... The people who work here are awesome, the parking can get crazy, and be prepared for a little bit of a wait if you end up there during the lunch rush. The chicken parm sandwich is worth it though!

Mi Amici's! If you are Italian and love Italian food - this is the place to go! Best place EVER! Authentic Italian grocery and great great bakery, coffee, and deli. I can't wait to go and check out their new store next door!

If the rating system on Yelp could make exceptions and allow 6 stars I would vote Mazzaro's into contention. I drive up to St. Pete from Sarasota at least once a month to try and stock up. I haven't seen anything like this coming from Sarasota except when I go up north to Boston or New York. Mazzaro's is a mecca for foodies and every time I visit I struggle to not spend over 200 dollars. My problem is I go never knowing what I need until I walk in, I just know what I like. They carry the most amazing assortment of olive oils and hard to find aged balsamic vinegars. With these in your arsenal the most novice cooks produce dishes that rival 5 star restaurants. Anytime I stop in I have to stock up on canned tomatoes. Lets face it if you are italian and making marinara then two or three cans is never enough, but one of the #10 cans will do the trick every time. Its amazing the difference in quality from what you can find at the local markets and their imported crushed tomatoes. If you are hungry this is a bad place to be due to the unlimited options. They roast their own coffee and have an awesome espresso bar that is usually surrounded by coffee connoisseurs. The homemade gelato also deserves a look with flavors such as an amazing pistachio, fig, and salted carmel ect ect.. The baked goods department will have you floored. I make it a point to grab a birthday cake here each year because nothing says special event like their cakes! They are constantly baking and making cakes throughout the day to keep up with demands. The breads are also amazing and once again unmatched but many local spots with a variety that is out of this world. Im a huge fan of their sesame semolina bread with that perfect density but still fluffy texture. The homemade pastas are amazing but go wicked fast! A large part of my time here is spent in the wine and cheese room. I am by no way any kind of cheese experts but when I have finished with the gentleman here I am that much closer! They are portioned out to 5-10 dollar slices and carry mostly anything you could imagine. I do not walk out without trying two or three new flavors, with a few bottles of vino (of coarse!). While they have an amazing section of sliced deli meats and prepared italian foods. I rarely visit this department. Just being here makes me want to try to cook a new dish and experiment with some of their amazing ingredients, but they do make an amazing sandwich if you need something to eat before hitting the road, and lets face it this is well worth the drive just to buy groceries!

Everything you would expect from an Italian deli. Hot food, fresh pasta bar, a deli with prosciutto and cops , fresh mozzarella, a rather large wine section with tastings, breads crusty and delicious. This is the real deal. I call it Eataly South. It is that good.

What a place! There's really nothing like it in the Tampa Bay area. Where else can you get a $5 muffaletta?!?! Wash it down with a Chinotto, finish off your meal with a cannoli or two, grab a pre-made pizza for dinner that night and it's a wrap!

i use to live across the street, ate here 3 times a day for 5 days a week, on saturdays once maybe twice a day because they close early. The sandwiches are always good and have daily specials. Wine and Cheese selections are HUGE.

This place never fail to amaze me. After a few (5...but who's counting?) visits, the place is busier than ever...maybe it's the holiday season and the place is S-W-A-M-P-E-D. Holy cow...it feels like you need to hire a bodyguard to get to the deli section. After you practice the art of elbowing and excuse me's....you make it to the deli section...YAY for the deli section!!! I decided to try something different and like OMG like it's so delicious! My senses become dull as I savor every bite. The different foods also to try are: ~Philly Cheesesteak (I tried some from my boyfriend's plate and I contemplated on taking him out ~Tanya Harding style~ so I can EAT it all) ~Sun dried tomato with spinach lasagna I wanted to buy something nice for my boyfriend's parents so I ventured to the wine room. Boy am I glad that I did. They had wine tastings that day and after asking them if they had something light and fruity, they recommended this bottle called "Rosa Regale" this was a crowd pleaser! They recommend to chill it and put it in a champagne glass because it is sorta like a sparkling wine...to be honest, after I had a tasting of this wine, my senses became dull (and did not listen to the whole conversation)...I just grabbed the biggest bottle they had and left. Mazzaro's always a great place and I will continue to come here. The people are always friendly and never did I see a staff member become disgruntled because it is the holiday season. The atmosphere is busy but light. Sometimes I like to come and people watch. I hope you all enjoy the delicious food and welcoming aromas. Seasons eatings! BTW...if you happen to bring a body guard, make sure to buy them something, maybe they won't charge you for their services after trying this place!

Being a native New Yorker I was thrilled to find Mazzarros! Its a fabulous market!!! You can get any Italian delicacy you want there. I love the pastries, coffee, and Gelati. The one complaint I have with the place is this: When I wanted to order a hero, with Suprasoda and mozzeralla and roasted red peppers, they wouldn't make it for me! You are bound to order off the menu board!!! I was so disappointed.

Step into Italy--seriously! Sausages and food hanging from the ceiling, deli, gelato bar, an ACTUAL bar, outside/inside dining. Mazzaro's cooks and cares about the details in their food. Seriously amazing food. It's pricey, but any out of towners should come here and try their eggplant or chicken parm sandwich. They have a lot of cool packaged goods that you don't see anywhere else too... Fun place.

Can I just move in and live here please??? God I love Mazzaro's. Yes, they have wonderful gourmet grocery sections. But even if the place were stripped down to just their deli and dessert counters, it would still be one of the best spots in town to satisfy your hunger. Hands down, the best bang for your buck in this city are their sandwiches. Huge variety for 5 or 6 bucks. Big, dense sandwiches in delicious bread. They can fill you up nicely for 2 meals. Though I suppose if you're a glutton with little self control (which is a dangerous probability here), you can wolf down the whole thing at once and spend the next 8 hours lying in bloated drooling heaven. I can taste the muffaletta now. This is one of the worst kept secrets in St. Pete, so it's usually packed to the gills at any given time unless you get there earlier in the morning. The only complaint I have about it is that there needs to be more Mazzaro's, as they basically keep banker's hours. In fact, they should be open 24/7... and yes, I'm serious about moving in there.

There is nothing to add that someone else has not already been put more eloquently than I could ever hope to say. This is where I come when I'm homesick. Lunch on the patio with some wine is balm to a Northern soul, alwaysnsomeone to talk with and comiserate. If you want key lime pie, soft bread or Starbucks type a'chinos this is not the place for you.

  • Chris W.

Fantastic! I have never had a bad lunch here. The Chicken Parmesan Sandwich is killer! Absolutely fantastic!! The rest of the market is phenomenal-from the bakery to the wine and cheese sections-if you want to know what a 1,100lbs Mozzarella torpedo, for lack of a better word, looks like, it's worth stopping by just to see it! You will also find excellent selections in the meat department. The whole place is very rustic, you feel like you just warped to a small indoor market in Sicily! Be sure to time your lunch, it gets VERY busy around noon, you may want to try a little earlier or later to avoid the crush...but that tells you how good this place is! And, don't forget, when you arrive at the lunch counter to order...you have to ticket a number! Don't get caught standing around waiting for someone to yell next, they go by the number tickets. All around fantastic!

I used to corner up to the Espresso Bar every Friday in high school to watch my barista friends at Mazzaro's make their latte art. I don't drink coffee, but I definitely eat cookies from the counter directly next to the bar as my buddies fashioned dogs, the Eifel tower, and smiley faces from froth. My other favorite things to do at this café/market place are: look at the giant wheels of chesses, stare at the giant stuffed animal heads that move, eat meatball subs on the patio next to the bubbling fountain, sip on Italian soda, buy authentic Italian goods to fashion into gift baskets, buy meatloaf for dinner...and, of course, eat a lot of cookies.

I will keep this short and sweet. The market, deli, coffee shop and bakery is amazing. If you're looking for an Italian market in the Tampa Bay area this is a must. However, with that in mind, you should know a few things before you go. Always bring cash, credit card, and your checkbook. We have been there several times over the last 10 years where their system has crashed and people have left the store devastated that the only option was to pay with cash or check. People would have their carts full of food and specialty items that they waited 10 to 20 minutes for the deli and had to leave everything behind because they didn't have cash or a checkbook on them. The place is also a madhouse on Saturdays. Parking is chaotic and the store is insane. It's like Black Friday. They also close early on Saturday so get there shortly after they open or you will feel rushed by early afternoon. I believe they are also closed on Sundays.

Adding one more 5-star rating seems redundant, BUT... I love this place. Seriously, as a foodie from NJ (we got Philly, NYC, and B'more all within driving distance) this place appears in my dreams. It calls my name and I awake bathed in sweat, the taste of sfogliatelle in my mouth. It quells the pain of homesickness... A produce section like a tiny case of glittering jewels.... A meat counter that makes you feel like a neighborhood paisan... A bakery that offers variety and respect (but come early - the bread selection waits for NO ONE)... A cheese counter where your questions are answered... A wine section without the up-sell; your budget - the perfect wine for YOU... Beers and coffees and the olive bar. Prosciutto (worth every pricey penny) that is so sublime that you will never think to profane it's flavor with melon or figs again... And I can't get started on the folks at the deli-sandwich counter because my eyes well with tears. I not only love the food; I love those people! I may not be the Don of anything. I'm no one's beloved Nonna. But the warmth, the service, the impeccable quality at Mazzaro's makes me feel like an important and well respected part of their food family. *sniff*

As a Jersey girl all I can say is this was beyond super. It's a mall of food. Every shop you would want to visit; pastry shop, pasta shop, you name it and here it is. A really fun experience, not just a resturant. Can't wait to go back.

Mazzaro's is my friend. This establishment should be on everyone list to visit. It's a deli, a restaurant, a bakery. They have a great wine selection and some awesome IPA beers. They also have people in the wine cellar that help you to pair your tasty wine with tasty cheese. Next time you're in Saint Pete check this place out you will not be disappointed. Don't forget to grab yourself the lobster mac n' cheese...it is oh so good.

This place is amazing, the food is so fresh and the sandwiches can't be beat!! This is a fun place to go if you have a friend visiting cause it's a fun experience overall to go to this place. Every time I come here I feel like I am transported to either New York or Italy, I can't decide! I am of Italian descent, from a family of loud New Yorkers, and I'll tell you right now, the food that they have at Mazzaro's is authentic through and through!! The cookies and breads make me so nostalgic and I love that they let you taste different cheeses! The only two downsides to this place are: 1. the deli area and the outdoor seating area is always overcrowded, especially on Saturdays- it's basically a mob scene at the deli whenever you are ordering and picking up, so word to the wise: decide what you and everyone else will be having BEFORE you get your ticket, and once you've ordered, LISTEN CAREFULLY so you can grab your stuff. The outdoor seating area definitely reminds me of new york in the sense that you feel like you are trying to get a great parking spot on a busy street in the middle of the city...it's AWFUL. There is so much competition for spots that it really sucks the fun out of going there to have a good lunch. This part bothers me so much that it's actually really why I gave them 4 stars out of 5. 2. They have expanded their parking area (thank god) so at least that is not so bad these days BUT the place is still the same size!!! It really doesn't make any sense, they should have expanded the building itself in some way, because you are constantly now waiting in the longest lines, shifting and scooting around people, etc. etc.- it just feels so small that it does get confusing and irritating. Maybe it's just me, but I like to have personal space! Otherwise, it is really a cool spot, and it's worth checking out for sure. I would say that if you want to go there though, go during the workweek and at a time that's between meals!!

This is my first 5 star rating. this is more a market than a restaurant. that said they do make sandwiches (boars head) and prepared meals, they also have a large seating area. we do a lot of our shopping here They have a good selection of meats, great breads and pastries, fresh pasta and a fantastic wine selection. I love to sit down and have a nice cappuccino and cannoli while i'm there, YUM

I used to come here every week. I recently moved to Tampa and can't find any place as good so I make frequent trips back to St. Pete just to load up on their food. I'm an Italian from NY and I know good food :) Lunch specials and to go foods are always amazing!

GO FOR LUNCH, or deli snacks, or just desserts. The prices are reasonable, with very tasty preparations. Seems like only 30 years ago this was just a little Italian market selling imported goods and some fresh vegetables. It GREW and GREW. As of this writing, there is a HALF TON cheese log hanging from the ceiling. I have watched the growth of this little family shop for decades. There has never been a time that I've left empty handed ... it is THAT good. A must see; even a place to bring your out-of-town visitors. Market prices are all over the place in range. Some items may cost a little more or less at your grocery store, but other items cannot be found ANYWHERE else in the area. Check out the olive oil section. Don't miss spending some time in the vast wine cellar ... I saw a $600 bottle! Stop in and just LOOK at this place, and you'll want to return. It is SO popular, that they put in 2 overflow parking lots! Have fun ... Mangia!

The BEST Italian Market outside of New York. This place rocks! Its a destination for foodies, like Disney is for kids. Don't miss this, you will keep going back. The food is sensational. They have re packaged the essence of Italy in one store.

Mazzaros is an adventure! Sit at the coffee bar (unless I am trying to get a seat :)), and enjoy a latte while your deli order is being made. You can watch the pastry creations and visit with your neighbor. Many have great stories to tell about their Mazzaro's favorites. Want cheese? visit with the cheese expert, Charley. This place is a real treat. The sandwiches of the week and the Swiss cheese spread is great. Buy a loaf of bread, like I did, and enjoy the spread and baguette with your latte.

I agree with most, crowd or no crowd, this place is amazing. It's Disneyland for all the foodies in the Tampa Bay area. If I made a list of everything I loved there, it would go on for pages. My favorites are the antipasto at the deli, lobster mac and cheese, and the chocolate covered bacon (not bits of bacon, whole pieces of bacon dipped in chocolate).

I happened to find Mazzaro's while doing an internet search. Being from Brooklyn, NY and now living in Florida, it's hard to find a good, "non chain" Italian Deli. What I found in Mazzaro's is so much more. The place is big and they have all kinds of good stuff. You won't know what to leave with! Parking can get a bit crazy but they do have parking lot attendants when needed to help with that. They have some of the best sandwiches my wife and I have ever had and at just $5 per sandwich, it can't be beat. I'm not talking Subway $5 foot longs, I'm talking real deal Italian sandwiches. Try the Mozzarella sandwich which is made with fresh Mozzarella that is made on the premises. Last time I was there, I had also tried the squid salad (Might have a different name) and I was blown away. I was surprised to see that they also sell fresh pasta's. We brought home their Four Cheese Manicotti, tossed it in the oven and went straight to Heaven and back! It was that good. Also try some of the many baked goods and breads, Pizza, Prosciutto sliced straight from the cured pigs leg, Cheeses, Wines, Gelato, Imported goods, etc... Bottom line, I love Mazzaro's and I don't mind taking the 2 hour drive to get there. We usually will go to Mazzaro's on a Saturday Morning, pick up the goodies and then head straight to the beach for a day of fun and a belly full of goodness.

In a word EXCITING to the eyes. I purchased cheeses and wine I've never had before. Went there for lunch however the place is MOBBED on a Saturday. You have to be very patient. It's almost as if this place is also a tourist attraction. Every turn, something new to experience.

Delicious place and my girlfriend had a food orgasm. She loves everything Italian and we came to the right place. Prices were great and atmosphere was everything you expect an Italian market to look like. The selection of food and wine make it almost impossible to imagine a better place in Florida....even better than Disney!

So, I'm not an Elite Yelper yet...but I imagine Mazzaro's annual wine tasting is similar to an Elite event. It was a very well done event, I would definitely attend again. There were over 60 wines to taste and gourmet Italian hors d'oeuvres. It was limited to about 100 so it really gave us a chance to mingle and not feel crowded at the wine bars. The people and staff were friendly. Definitely worth attending. We met a gentlemen in the line to get in. He was a food broker, meaning he brings food in from Italy, Spain, etc. and uses distributors to get the food into the stores. We named him our tour guide for the evening. He was able to describe the wines and cheeses we were tasting. He also introduced us to all the managers and owners of Mazzaros. Everyone was so friendly and down to earth. I was feeling no pain by the end of the evening, so I picked up my 6-pack wine holder and filled it up with 6 bottles of wine. I can't wait to savor my new wines while I'm entertaining at home and I will be returning to do some gourmet Italian grocery shopping to make some appetizers to go with it! I look forward to wandering around in there on a Saturday afternoon when they do their wine tastings...or maybe hang out at the coffee bar and write my Yelp reviews :)

Great selection of Italian specialities. I love that there is a deli there and the food is so good. The desserts are great. I love their cannoli cake! The store has an excellent cheese cellar. I swear there is about 1000 different cheeses in there. The produce area is horrible but there is a supermarket a few blocks down for that. I haven't made it to the coffee bar. It is always packed. I never know when this place is open!!!

The food is over rated, it's good, but not as to die for as everyone has told me. This Italian market / deli combo is jam packed with stuff everywhere, making it nearly impossible to wait in line to order on an average day without touching anyone around you or anyone trying to press through to the patio. I am very uncomfortable with strangers pushing me around while I try to figure out what food should be ordered at which counter, struggling to glimpse the options behind the glass, and understand what the ordering process is and which convoluted line is the one I need to be in. The people taking the orders are not helpful in making the process clear, assuming everyone has been here before and knows the deal. They don't say, "for here or to go" so they can heat up the food for you, they don't have a clear spot at any of the counters for customers to go up to without having to push their way through a series of people who might have already ordered, could be waiting to order, or are trying to figure out what to order, there's no way to tell one crowd from the other. When you eventually figure it out the first time around and get your food, you might have ordered multiple items, but there's no trays to make sure you can carry all of the food out to the pay station and then to the patio, or bags for to go orders(I'm pretty sure if you asked for one they could get one, but I should not have to ask, especially with my hand in a cast) so you guard yourself against bumps as best you can to hope the food you waited so uncomfortably for doesn't get knocked out of your hands, forget trying to make a single trip for food and drinks, you won't make it. Speaking of their "coffee bar" they're always super busy, scrambling around, and I got skipped over while waiting to order my drinks, then it proceeded to take about 8-10 minutes to get my drinks and pay for them, all whilst growing ever more hungry with each passing minute. The pizza looked really good, especially the "chicken and vodka" pizza, but it wasn't very flavorful and it's all extremely messy to eat. The patio space is very limited, so you might have to wait to get a seat, or have a seat taken while you go inside for the necessary second trip. The mist fans are a good concept, but it does nothing but agitate me further as I try to keep napkins on the table, the parchment paper from under certain foods, such as pizza and pastries, from flying away or up in the way as we ate, and keeping my hair out of my face and food as the water droplets blow directly on everything. Being in a group with a friend in a wheelchair was difficult, we had to somehow clear a space through the mass of indifferent people packed into the store from the front door to the back, with too few handicap spaces having to park in the rear of the parking lot. As a disabled veteran myself, the overwhelming environment made me uneasy, and the invasion of my personal space made me anxious and extremely uncomfortable. Add this to the inaccessibility of the entrance and exit due to the sheer volume of people going in and out of the limited doors and the maze of a parking lot through which my handicapped friend had to go through as cars pulled in and out without regard for their surroundings, and it is a logistical nightmare. I will not be returning despite my group's general enjoyment of the food and their continuing patronage. The systems in place to get the food they enjoy(mostly the pastries) are frustrating to them but they can overlook it. I cannot.

Logic? Forget it! Shopping list? Forget it! Mazzaro's happens to you while you're busy making other plans. Every time we come here, we end up experimenting, procuring an item or three we never knew we needed, until that very moment! Years back, it became our secret tradition to drop by on a Saturday, navigate the crowds, and have a blast! Their biscotti are to freaking die for. I don't need them, I don't plan for them, but it happens, every time, I must have them!

OOOOOh...the aromas, the flavors. I join the worshippers at the altar of Mazzaro's. Just strolling through their ever-expanding domain is an olofactory tour of the Mediterranean boot. Fresh produce, cheeses, deli sandwiches, antipasto, bulk olives, the bakery, pizza, the fresh-ground coffee, the incense at St. Peter's....(wait, I got carried away a bit.). It is generally busy, parking can be tight, and it is a bit cramped inside due to the abundance of goods jammed into ad hoc expansions. It is worth just visiting, inhaling and ogling even if you are broke....it is inspiring enough to instill ambition to earn some bucks to come back and buy some fresh fennel, a massive sandwich, some cannolli & wedding cookies, sip some espresso and grab a bottle or two of nice imported Chianti wine and boxes of fava beans to take home for Mr. Lechter next door.

Not a store, its a destination. I am obsessed with this place. There aren't a lot of reasons that I actually like about living in St. Pete, but this is one of them. Any time i am in the area, I stop in. I am not a fan of crowded bars, markets, or anything else, but i will brave this one any hour of the day, any day of the week. It's a gem! The fresh mozzerella is the best I've ever had (including being IN Italy). The deli selection, fresh pasta, sandwiches, bakery (desserts and breads) are all top notch. Everything I have bought from here has been great. Its worth traveling to even if you aren't in the area. They have a bunch of ready to eat food that they will heat up, or you can take home and "make" and amazing dinner just by heating a few things up yourself. I go here every chance I get, and haven't had anything bad, I like that there is more than just Italian here too. Granted 90% of the fresh bread, dessert, and prepared foods could be considered Italian, they do have lots of dry goods that have a more international flair to them. If you grew up up north, where there seems to be an old school "little Italy" area in most cities, and want to find something from there, this is the place to look. One side note: the desserts are really sweet, I think they go best with something from the coffee bar which is almost always got a good crowd at it, or enjoy it on the patio out front.

Great Italian place! Has cute decor on the outside and inside, makes you feel like you are in Italy. The food is fresh and top quality. Besides the deli and grocery, you have the option of eating here as well. They have outdoor seating and a coffee bar. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Despite its large size, it still manages to get packed. Try to avoid during busy weekend hours.

  • Lou M.

They have people who work outside just to guide you where to park. You will quickly realize the madness before you step foot into the place, but it is worth it! They age their own meat (like Burn's or any other fancy steakhouse), make their own sausages and pasta, plus have a huge selection of olives, cheeses, and other Italian goods. Oh yeah, and if your hungry, they have a phenomenal deli and dessert & coffee bar. This place is a gem in St. Pete and a market worth experiencing. I come here once a month just to stock up on their Italian sausage and some pasta.

This is a must see in St. Petersburg, FL. It included not only the best and most complete selection of Italian & European foods I have seen outside of Europe, but also an inexpensive and excellent deli & coffee bar! Wow... loved it!

You know why Mazzaro's is winning? Cause $7 gets you a Sub that you can only finish if you're a fat bastard and an IPA that'll make you want to slap your mother. Thats a Value Meal right there

What a cute place! I can almost get all my groceries here from fresh produce to pizza. The whole place is reasonably priced and they have a knowledgable wine enthusiast to assist you in selecting the perfect bottle. Plus they make their own mozzarella and a killer salad not to mention dessert!

A nice surprise to find such an authentic Italian market less than 20 minutes from our hotel during our recent vacation. I am not sure whether all those skinny folks parading around on the beach know about this place. If so, I am even less sure how they still fit into their swimsuits! The handmade pasta was wonderful. The lunch sandwiches enormous and delicious. The pistachio biscotti were unreal. Update: After a week, my swimsuit is a bit tighter but still fit. if my visit were longer, I am not sure that would still be true.

As good as it gets. It competes with large cities that have a Littly Italy neighborhood. The pastas are divine and all hand made daily.Great deli selection and the meats and seafood are incredible. They have a beautiful shared wine & cheese room which I can spend a bit of time tasting and deciding what to take home. The house made mozzarella is pretty incredible. The only thing I don't buy there is the produce and I am reluctant to buy my daily vino there. I always find the same table wines about $4.00 cheaper per bottle at other grocers so if I am buying a few bottles it adds up. I would rather spend the money and get an extra bottle somewhere else. If you are looking for a special wine however, they are great for that aspect and have a few rare items. They are very nice and will order something special for you. Saturday's are a wonderful treat. They sometimes have music, wonderful tastings, a hubub of people in a happy foodie mood and smells permeate every sense. I am 100% Sicilian and very picky. Mazzaro's hits it spot on. I also feel that Mazzaro's makes all of my holidays more special because of the rare Italian products they carry and make. Wish they had longer store hours ;)

WOW!!...What an amazing section of authentic of Italian wine, pasta, coffee and the list goes on and on and on...Mazzaro's roasts fresh coffee beans daily along with fresh bread and one of the best al' fresco lunches around.

Overwhelming, crowded, and cramped. It is still great and i go all the time. Yes i gave it 5 stars bc even with those descriptions it is still the best market, lunch spot, wine store, cheese shop, deli, fresh pasta place.....anywhere. However don't pull a number unless youa re ready to order. They will tell you that very sternly, and i dont care.....it is still great.

I took my son there yesterday. The place was packed! Parking was kinda a pain. We made our way back to the food and took a number. The guy calling the numbers was not loud, so we missed our number calling. I spoke up and a lady behind the meat counter helped us. I had the beef lasagna and my son had the cheese lasagna. His was better for sure. We sat outside and ate then made our was to the dessert counter. This is where the true disappointment set in. The women working were so rude and nasty. Even my son commented on their attitude. Sad!

This is absolutely a destination location if you are in St. Pete. Moved here about a year ago. And I have gone there about 2 to 4 times a months since. Always try something new. The staff offers wonderful recommendations. Most recently the lamb sliders...OMG there are amazing.

This place is fantastic. Great food and you can order anything you want for very reasonable prices. I have not been able to finish my sandwich yet! It's a market atmosphere so it gets a bit hectic and overwhelming when lunch is in full swing. But food and price make up for it.

Look at all the good reviews. I live in the area and have been to Mazzaro's several, maybe ten times. The ambiance is great: unique and cute. But going there for lunch, dessert or coffee is a mistake. I'm sure their groceries are fine. Can't really mess up on Boar's Head meats. Mazzaro's has good bread, I know that much. I was there today and got a grilled caprese, and could not understand how they couldn't make a better one than a packaged and refrigerated one from the Publix deli. I'm serious. Their desserts are presented beautifully, but are nothing close to impressive. I ordered a caramel mocha frappe (not today but the last time I went) and gave it back to them. It was watery. Honestly, I am not the type of person to give something back. Try it for yourself, if you like bad food, or are Italian but have no pride in it, you'll love it.

i have been going here since 1996, and it gets better every time I go. There is just too much to list, and everything is good. If you are in St Petersburg do yourself a favor and stop by. My favorite sandwich is the Hot Italian. I also like to grocery shop for pastas, meats, cheeses, beers, wines, bread, coffee, and deserts.

I'll preface this review with: yes, I realize I was the idiot who went to Mazzaros on a Saturday. But I can't make the trek on a weekday. I was excited to venture through the market. They definitely have an impressive array of items to select from. Wine...cheese...meat...so much! I love that I could really accumulate the fixings for an Italian meal there. But to be honest, I didn't make a single purchase that day. It was so packed and crazy in there it wasn't worth it. Awesome items, but not worth the pushing, waiting in line, etc. Hopefully one day I can visit at a less busy time!

From the amazing selection of cheeses to the fresh meat and seafood to the jam packed deli counter. Everything here is amazing and fresh and high quality. Wished they had longer hours so I could come more often.

This place is awesome. If you are looking for a different kind of experience, you should definitely check this out. It's an authentic Italian market that feels like you are in Italy the moment you step inside. There are shelves upon shelves of imported goods. There is a wine and cheese ROOM, yes, an entire room, rightly so, dedicated to wine and cheeses. A coffee section, deli, bakery, etc. You can eat lunch there too and their deli is delish! It's really crowded on the weekends, so plan accordingly. They have a lovely outdoor patio.

Mazzaro's! This is a wonderful italian market located in St. Petersburg that will make a homesick New Yorker feel like their home. When you first walk into the market, it is dark, green toned that reminds you of a small little market like their kinds you'll find in the bronx or queens. We only tried the bakery items and Gelato that day. We got pignoli cookies which I thought were delicious and rainbow cookies which unfortunately were a let down, but then again, my wife and I are rainbow cookie snobs. But what was so delicious was the gelato. We got the hazelnut and chocolate flavors and they were the best we had ever had. They were rich, thick, creamy and full of flavor. The portions were a lot even for the smallest cup and the hazelnut gelato has tons of real hazelnuts embedded in it. There were tons more flavors that we wanted to try and will have to on our next visit. Also, the staff behind the counter were friendly, respectful and really value your business.

Just moved to the area and we visited her to get some cold cut sandwiches. I grabbed the Italian #2 with everything on it. My company was a bit more picky, sticking to turkey with toppings applied sparingly. I must say, my sandwich was FANTASTIC. The bread was crusty and hearty, the meats tasted fresh and juicy, and the toppings complimented the flavors wonderfully! My company enjoyed their meals as well; their orders were correct and delicious. Everyone had a wonderful time. We visited the wine and cheese room and tasted the wine. The whole place is quite lovely, with an exception that they could probably be twice as large as it is SO crowded. But what can you do? With a place this nice people are bound to flock! So glad to be living around the corner from this awesome market and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

I feel like writing an acrostic, an ode to everyone's favorite market in St. Pete, Mazzarro's: M- Massive. The market is a large warehouse looking building decorated with funky, eclectic colors and tchotchkes A- abundance of choices. How many gourmet crackers can a market hold? The answer is many. I brought my gluten free friend there on a visit from out of town and she had multiple GF pasta choices there. I didn't know they made GF pasta. The more you learn. Z- Zooming through it is not likely. You can get stuck in mazzarros for an entire afternoon if you're not careful. Z- Zesty sauces? Really, two z's? A- Awesome assistance. Everyone there knows there stuff and they love to help. I was just looking at the cider refrigerator and before I could even ask anyone, I was asked what I liked in a cider and a case of new ciders I should try were brought to me from the back room. R- Ridiculously crowded sometimes. GO EARLY if you go on a saturday. It becomes pretty chaotic but that kind of adds to the market feel. R- Realistic portion sizes (at the deli counter). I love the Friday fish sandwich special. It's HUGE and probably the best fish sandwich i've ever had. O- Oh my, an acrostic was probably not a good idea, but you know what is always a good idea- Mazzaro's (when it's O-open. They keep strange hours).

Marco Polo came to China and now Jay is at Mazzaro! This place makes one of the greatest sandwiches in St Pete, hands down! And you can do grocery while there. Just don't shop on Saturday, one would think you're in Broooklyn Ny. I love this place! Comfort food...

Just had the portobello mushroom pizza and the spinach feta pie together and it was warmed just right, fresh, and delectable! We ate on the patio and while we were inside we allowed our eyes to eat all the desserts we really wanted to scarf down too!

Everything is amazing here! Always get the panini of the day and go early because they run out quick! Nom nom! It's always busy but worth every extra second. The check out ladies aren't too friendly, but the super funny, sweet guys in the meat department make up for their bad attitude! Sandwich of the day. Cannolis. Sauces. EVERYTHING! YUM!

How have I lived in the area for 3 years and not have known about this place. Huge selection of all my favorite things: cheese, wine, salads, and dips! Amazing prepared food and bakery items. Can't wait to go back.

This is the best!! I come here at least weekly. Every time I visit I must get a latte from the coffee bar and something sweet from the bakery. Aside that, I love the fresh bread - ask then to slice it for you if you like. They often have different varieties, they other day I got an asiago chive loaf that was great. They have a variety of subs to try - I've had the italian sausage sub, so good. Go right up to the meat counter and order there. They will have it ready in a minute. You can sit outside on the patio or by the coffee bar. Great cheeses available, they'll have whatever you're looking for. Great wine selection. Oh, and you know what? They have a fantastic selection of drinks (right across from the bakery on your way to the fresh pastas) in the cooler - all types of craft made, non-alcoholic, drinks to try. Things like burdock root or ginger beer or espresso cola. Seriously, check it out. Also, they fresh pastas a excellent. I recently tried the gnocci and the tortellini, both tasty. You can have an easy meal by picking up some of their homemade sauces. I chose the Fig Sage Cream sauce last time and it was fantastic. I have brought out of town guests there on 2 separate occasions and they both said they want to visit Mazzaro's every time they visit. Guess I'll be making many more trips - that's NO problem.

Ah... for groceries, a bottle of wine, a fresh cheese, or lunch, Mazzaro's is one of the best places to go in St. Pete. Located on Home Improvement Row in St. Petersburg, Mazzaro's offers fresh cut meats, homemade cheese and pasta, a authentic Italian style bakery, a coffee bar and so much more. Locals know that going to Mazzaro's on the weekend is a mad house because it gets so crazy busy with customers, so I enjoy going during the week so I don't have to fight the crowds.

OMG, where do I even start with Mazzaro's? I love, love, love it! Probably the #1 place I miss in St Pete, having moved to Miami a year and a half ago. Fresh seafood, butcher, organic produce, gourmet cheeses, a mix of fine and reasonably priced wines, homemade FABULOUS pasta, delish Italian cold cuts, olive bar, ready made foods, sandwich counter --outdoor seating, bakery, decadent desserts... It goes on and on. Not to mention the old fashioned, refurbished, hand-cranked deli slicer that they use for their top notch prosciutto which transports you to a simpler time and provides pitch perfect slices. Another unique feature are their premium aged steaks which they do in house. With every visit, my eyes get all googly and it is hard to resist buying EVERYTHING! I've never come here with a plan, it's more like you come in and choose a little of this and a little of that and the next thing you know you are having a FEAST! It is too hard to resist. I know plenty of people who make the drive from an hour away for the sole purpose of mazzaro's, and with very good reason. I really don't think there is any place quite like it in the state of Florida. Beware though of their hours. I believe they close around 4 on weekdays and are not open Sundays. If you are here around Valentine's Day, Christmas or any other major holiday be prepared because it will be a madhouse!
